Yes! Hope the below is at least marginally helpful.
At a high level, I am really passionate about a specific industry (have been focused on it since high school) and a series of events changed my view on the industry and helped me zone in on a particular problem I wanted to solve. That "story" was infused across most of my app.
But for my "what matters most" essay, I actually did not talk about that specific industry at all. I focused on something that revealed more about my personality / how I get through tough times / how I relate to others. The stories I touched on were both professional and personal (I think the personal one was more powerful, tbh)

Idk. I kind of shot from the hip with my applications... I didn’t put as much effort in as some, to be honest, partially because I’m not that fussed about HBS/GSB prestige.
Even LBS pretty frankly told me in my interview that they weren’t sure if I was actually serious about getting an MBA or not, which is probably true if I’m honest with myself. Part of that is that I’ll be two years into the post-MBA job at Bain if / when I go, part of it is more personal.
Also, “what matters to me most and why” isn’t and likely will never be related to my career, which I was relatively open about. I’m basically a cynical mercenary.
