My lady senior denied me the romantic opportunity of a lifetime by spurning my advances. How am I supposed to learn anything if she won’t even let me get to first base? #meblue

There are a lot of developmental/mentor opportunities I’d love to have but that are off the table to white males. I guess I’m inherently supposed to know all this through the color of my skin and my gender 🤷🏻‍♂️

Wish I was tiny but white dude plays

I worked in a group of 16, and only two were men. Many many times the ‘shop talk’ went to a very degrading and offensive level against men. Stuff that any man would be fired quickly for doing. But because it was almost all women, they looked the other way.

like

Unfortunately it happens more often than not. That "they did it to us, let's do it to them" mentality is prevalent. Thing is, if you are now in a position to influence, it should not be used to "get back at" instead it should be used to show what can be accomplished if you base your decisions on what a person brings to the table instead of their race, ethnicity, gender, sexual orientation, etc.

As a gay man not out at work, I feel marginalized when people make derogatory comments about gay people.

Should be reported to HR regardless of whether you are straight or LGBTQ

When I was just told I wasn’t going to get the promotion I was pushing for because it has always been a man so now it needs to go to a woman and while this woman it will go to is a solid partner, I now understand what it is like to not be promoted because I am the wrong gender.

like

I feel like being lied to and being told it’s only because you’re a man would be worse. That’s like a lawsuit waiting to happen. Also, I’d like to think that things are that sugarcoated, especially the further you move up

like

When my senior told me I listen “just like a man" while explaining something to me

When my female peers and female partner get mani/pedis and have spa day without me.

Haha. Read the other post. 😂

The best for the job should always be chosen .... if someone / or group decide because the best is a Christian, or ‘of color’, or a woman, or gay that they’ll pass on selecting them .... I’m sure their business will suffer ... which impacts more than just that business.
But common sense is hard to come by these days and the best is not always chosen. Ironic.

A tax manager from my previous place of employment use to ban every idea I had (I.E.: ways to improve workflow, workpaper changes etc).

But when my coworker, a girl, would recommend the same thing, the tax manager would be agree and go forward with the changes.

I was really confused. There were rumors of this tax manager not being able to work with dudes and hated Asians...which was weird because she was asian and so was I.

Deferred basis in a partnership. If I am looking to prove out the ending deferred related to an investment in a partnership is it as “simple” as taking the initial contribution and rolling in taxable income year over year for tax basis. For book basis initial investment rolling in book income year over year. Minus any distributions for both.

Anyone in the boston area looking for a good WLB tax senior job? My last firm is hiring. No minimum billable hours needed. Client facing tax role. Great bonus structure (my last payout was 20% of my annual salary and I was there for less than one year). Very competitive salary. I won't have left if not for going to a big 4. Great team. I love my team when I worked there and they were like family to me. They encouraged me to be brave and pursue big 4 if that's better for me in the long run.
