I've seen the article and find it incomplete. There ARE right and wrong opinions and this article discounts the fact that some things are plain wrong and masks that distinction with 'smugness'. It IS wrong for a public figure to insult an individual. It IS wrong for public officials to have independence issues. It IS wrong to categorically disenfranchise the poor and minority's voters. It IS wrong to block access to healthcare. It IS wrong to make violent remarks against your opposition. It IS wrong for a public official to incite violence. Etc... Both viewpoints can be smug about being right. It is a privilege everyone can enjoy. Objectively though, some people just don't deserve it.

OP it is not a waste of time. It is extremely revealing about your opinion since your point refuse to engage. It shows either your refuse to admit to me you believe in a limit or worse you refuse to admit to yourself.

SC1: the repeal of the ACA does done mean "0". It means they depend on charity care(most hospitals will right off and provide free care to self pays below the poverty line) and the ER. Nearly every single hospital, even small rural hospitals have a charity to cover this. There are also free clinics and similar other free things that they have access to. That may be below your acceptable minimum but it is not 0.

Out of touch limousine liberal actress delivers stereotypically partisan speech to out of touch liberal Hollywood bubble press. Cue applause.

The majority? Hate to break it to you OP but neither candidate got 50% of the vote due to third parties, and third party voters this cycle obviously didn't think a Trump presidency was enough of a threat to justify voting for Hillary (I know I didn't). And actually the majority of eligible voters in this country didn't even vote. It's also funny that you think Meryl Streep is speaking for the "average American" - ignoring the "average American" is why Hillary lost against a bombastic business man who any normal Democrat could have defeated in an electoral landslide.

Of course, a brainwashed radical conservative speaks.

P2 - great, but since the average American doesn't get their voice heard publicly, I'm glad someone who gets attention says what the majority of us are thinking and saying. And when you say 'no one cares', sorry you don't get to speak for ALL people.

P1- no, Trump* is the idiot who can't tell the difference between legal and illegal.

Shame to all women who voted for this pu$$y grabbing prick! You are the worst of it all!

SC1, did I not clearly state that I am not a republican, and thus not a Trump supporter? Can you handle this light criticism or did I just trigger you into your safe space bunker? And for the record, the political views of trump supporters are mutually exclusive from the terrible things he says. Knowing some of my friends who voted for him, Acknowledging there a national security, illegal immigration, and fair trade problem are valid policy platforms that doesn't necessarily make you a xenophobic bigot racist homophobe, contrary to what Rachael Maddow might tell you. Just the same as voting for Hillary doesn't mean her supporters agree with her taking money from countries that abuse women and LGTB. No person or party has a monopoly on good (or bad) policies, actions and statements

Next you are gonna call me a racist, sexist, bigot, xenophobic, or whatever ism/ist. Then I will need to check my/correct pronoun privilege into my liberal arts safe space to cry about my white tears around people who won't accept contrasting views. Checkmate you got me.

LMAO.

What was an amazing speech (to me) just got completely invalidated with the "football and MMA" comment. YOU JUST ALIENATED a huge group of people literally in the same breath as mentioning inclusion, acceptance and tolerance.... oh right you meant inclusion of everyone that fits your profile and agenda. That comment to me was "I really want to say you backwoods red necks but I'll take the high road because I'm holier than thou".... Come on. I'm not a republican but I think just because you say something much more eloquently than Trump's disgusting rhetoric, doesn't mean the same hateful undertones aren't there either.

Good to know she is in favor of all of the religious freedom laws that have been passed!!! Although I am shocked that a Hollywood liberal came out in favor of allowing a bakery to decide to not bake a cake for a wedding that violates their religious beliefs.

SC1, have you read the art of the deal? If hillarys campaign or the media had read the first chapter, they would have realized your knee jerk emotional reactions are exactly why he uses such inflammatory rhetoric. The guy said this 30 years ago, he would say something "sensational" because it was free press and would get him far more exposure (good or bad) than the 50k ad he could take out in the New York Times. Not saying I agree with it, but the other side fell for these decades old tricks for the entire year long campaign.

If that person is heartless, then yes, I assume they would, placing them on the 'not smug' side of this argument. Healthcare demand has an extremely low price elasticity. Probably the lowest after air, drinking water and food. In cases where the ER finally addresses acute illness, it's at a higher cost and in some cases lower probability of successful treatment. Therefore access restrictions literally kill people.
