Met a partner yesterday during a coffee chat and he randomly asked me for suggestions to take his 15 year old son for his 16th birthday. Told him I’ll circle back but idk what to say lol.

If they stay in the US, my niece in law works at the Grand Canyon- they do a 5 day/night hike and end with white water rafting. She loves it. My husband, my BIL, and their 13 year old other daughter went last year and also loved it.

Spend time on a dude ranch in Montana, Wyoming, or Arizona. Be cowboys for a week moving cattle, fly fishing, hiking, etc. Great father son bonding on a couple day cattle drive.

Using “circle back” when referring to a 16 year olds birthday party plans; god damn, you are a consultant.

Yes the way he describes it, it seems like his son and daughter are both really appreciative

Sounds like a South American father son excursion is what they need

Welcome to Partner life. Around so infrequently he has to ask strangers what his own son would like for his birthday.

Depending on what his son is into, maybe a father and son trip somewhere?

like

That’s what he wants to do. He basically said his son plays football and is an Eagle Scout and doesn’t want to drink because it’s “illegal”. He’s open to everything but just wants to have fun lol so not much to go off

Go on a fishing trip

If you have not yet replied...it may be too late. I am sure it was small talk and ya blew it.

Switzerland!!!! Do they like skiing/snowboarding? There are some slopes open year round in Switzerland. Zermatt is beautiful and amazing (even if you don’t like skiing)

If the son is into sports, any place in Europe with soccer or rugby.

Down to the Caribbean and they can get their open water scuba certification together

Hi 👋 Any good UX books for senior designer level that helps with strategy, and good frameworks, or anything that will help me with my thought process? I have the basic books like don’t make me think, and 100 things. I’ll be joining a startup soon as chief designer, and will be back to being a full stack designer — I’ve been an IC for the past few years, so I definitely need to improve on strategies and maybe frameworks when it comes to UX. Will appreciate any suggestions. Thanks! 🙏🏻
