Hi, I am going to join PS as a Product Manager in a month. While I understand work life balance purely depends on project, in general is it bad across the org or is it like any other IT organization ? I ask as I see many people working for long in PS. I would appreciate if someone from the Product team could comment on this.
Help me I feel lost :(
I started in a staff aug project as an experienced hire. Everything seems to be going smoothly and clients are happy but the project is super slow right now. I would like to help other projects for the same client but the comunication with the managers is lackluster at best and there is none with the leadership.
How am I supposed to engage with my new coworkers?
Just a heads up to those who aren't already familiar with this scam: There is a person pretending to be from Electric Lime Films (Singapore, Sydney, etc.) doing the old bounced check scam. He claims his name is Felix Lee, and he is approaching directors, producers, and small production companies about being hired for a project with the company. They offer to hire you… CONTINUED…
Current salary- 15.46 LPA Fixed.
Current organisation- Accenture.
I have 3 offers at present.
Nagarro- 24 LPA ( 5% variable) - Staff Engineer
HCL- 25 LPA Fixed- Senior Lead Engineer. But they mentioned that Fixed part will only be there for 1 year and then variable will be added (strange clause). 2 lacs joining bonus.
TCS- 25.5 LPA ( 2.56 lacs as QVB) - Assistant Consultant. 2 lacs joining bonus promised by project.
Please suggest which one to join.
Can I get some likes so I can use the DM. Currently senior tax associate in Private Client Service (over 4 YOE) working with high net worth individuals, partnership, trust, gift tax. Thinking about a change probably International Tax or another specialty group. Given my experience in PCS and not international tax, could I make the switch? Would it be a high learning curve?
I wrote some pretty kick ass book worthy scripts for a concept that got killed by client. How should I phrase that on my book when explaining the project? Do I put it on there? Do I mention it died?
What is travel like to client site for Deloitte? Draining? Exciting? Too much travel? I know that travel is currently up to 50%
Internal HR trolls: You are an annoyance and an impediment to having honest dialog about our client-facing profession. Certainly you must have something more productive do with your skills.
Poll: how much of a difference does a junior vs senior corporate partner make in terms of client outcomes? Non-equity vs equity? Just thinking that there’s a lot of junior corporate partners out there that are underpaid compared to the relative value they deliver.
My CD always says it’s not worth fighting battles that make the work only slightly better, but you lose enough of those battles on one project and suddenly you have a stinker. So frustrating.
Has anyone had to file for a protective order against a former client or former opposing party? I helped a client get a protective order (restraining order) against her insane ex. While I represented her the ex sent me a bunch of nasty emails, text messages, voicemails, etc. and since the representation has ended (and we got the order) I’ve received one email from him. I’m hoping it ends with that one. I’m not afraid of him, sometimes I find his emails kind of amusing.
Advice for dealing with a subpar manager? I’ve been staffed on a project with a recent-hire manager known to not be great - as far as I know he’s not very on top of things & doesn’t give much guidance (something I need as I’ve recently joined). Does anyone have any advice?
As part of your client contributions (federal consulting), what percentage do you feel your work truly makes a positive impact? (Either to the organization or for the general good)
This has been my first job, whats the interview process like switching to another big 4 firm as an experienced hire? Human capital centered case studies?
Think my agency is launching a Covid19 idea today. Feels not great to me, though the message is appropriate (though no different than what the news has disseminated). I guess it’s fine. 😕
Hi Thoughtworkers! Hope all well.

Anyone know generally the percentage of interviewees at Wharton who are then admitted? I’ve seen estimates online as low as 30/40% and as high as 75%

Starting a PE gig in 6 weeks - would likely be remote since NY isn’t open. How did I get ready for the job leaving consulting? How different is remote investing and how does that affect getting up to speed?

Thoughts on moving to a boutique from B4 for 20% pay bump? Everyone I've interviewed with seem nice and would be cool to work with, but the lack of some sort of organized structure scares me.
Is there ever a circumstance where it makes sense to buy a home if you’re not sure you’ll be there 5+ years? What criteria would need to be in place for it to make sense to do that? Currently renting - paying too much - lease is up in Summer 2022 and trying to decide next move. See some townhomes for sale that look great and mortgage would be less than current rent.
