That's one of many... been cornered by an executive trying to get into my hotel room, been invited into the client's office too many times for comfort, been walked to my room... the list goes on... those are the "at work" ones... i wish I was able to talk to younger girls starting out in consulting about it, and what to do. No one ever talked to me about it.

😳as a guy all these stories give me the chills. I can't comprehend how guys are so confident to invade someone's physical space. I'm genuinely shocked.

Female who also worked at SpaceX back in the day. Sexual harassment was rampant and HR was completely useless. From personal experience and those of multiple female coworkers. Sorry to hear you went through it too 😔

Guy here btw, I was shocked when a friend told me of her experience at a client site; movies depict this stuff but you never actually think this stuff happens in real life until you hear it first hand or experience it. Terrible

Op you can teach your daughter to be self aware and cultivate good judgement. This includes safety, as well as surrounding herself with people who won't let her get into these situations.

You should have gone to SpaceX HR, at least gotten heard. I know what this sounds like, I have nothing to lose and am offering you advice while you were probably worried about your career if you snitched but this crap shouldn't be tolerated. These creeps are emboldened when they get away with this.

@OP thanks for sharing. Sorry you went through that. I work in a group that’s 90% male and unfortunately the only four women in the group have all had incidents similar to yours. We’re all staff level and haven’t figured out how to navigate this; it feels like HR is useless since they somehow made us feel like we’re to blame (even when there was evidence and witnesses!). People always say to go to HR, but I go back and forth between not having enough evidence, not wanting to blow things out of proportion, afraid of retaliation or getting blamed, hoping things will just go away if I avoid the perpetrator, etc.
