If I know I could take care of personal things on a Friday, let's say, then I would be more focused during Mon-Thu. Also it would allow me more time to recharge over the weekend. Even if this 3 day weekend was once a month I would take it.

I think a 4 day work week would benefit so many people. Pay less at daycares, more time to spend with family, more time to do personal things especially during elevated working hours, more time to recharge and even get ahead of things if you want. I know id be more productive because by Friday I'm burnt. Even if we keep Fridays but have Wednesday off, it would be life changing. But I wouldn't know how it would change pay/pto

That’s my point I get a day back for free.

Once a month is a good idea too! I would definitely be more productive and I’d have a better outlook about going to work because there’s better work life balance. I’ve never liked how we have to work 5 days just to get 2 days off? 4 to 3 ratio is much better!

I’m pretty sure PWC has this already in the form of flex-Friday’s. If the suggestion is to give strictly 4 days work week no matter what then I feel this won’t solve anything. We can barely get the work done in a 5-7 day work week so unless people will be working until midnight for 4 days during non-busy season, I can’t see how this fits in with the big4 culture. Maybe I’m jaded but why are there so many other suggestions outside of needing to hire more and stop accepting every client if we don’t have capacity? (Answer partners want more money but you get what I’m going for)

Absolutely. Especially in non busy season where a lot are “working” from home on Friday anyways.

If big 4 found a solid way to implement a 4 day work week then I think they would get more out of their employees. Maybe spread the days out so you have coverage Monday-Friday and rotate who gets off on certain days.

Senior manager 1:everything is not audit and ca not be explained in numbers. Have you heard of qualitative analysis. Apply that logic here.

Absolutely but it should also mean people aren’t required to work crazy number of hours those 4 days, because that would just mean spending 5th day trying to recover from the exhaustion.

I think that is just BS. If they cut down from 5 week day to a 4 week day for an increase of 40%, they can cut another another day for another 40% boost. How about one for day for a third boost of 40%? Then yet another day for more 40% boost. And, finally, the last day cut for more 40% boost. Great, 0 work days for a boost of 200%. Genius.....

Well it’s a good thing no one’s paying you to make business decisions with that sort of bulletproof logic

More productive? No I would be just as productive. I would screw around less and actually work to get the same amount of work done in 4 days as I do in 5 days....because i only work like half the time anyway. The rest is just messing around.

I would be so much more productive with a four day work week. Every week by Friday, I’m so tired and unmotivated. It would also be really helpful to have a day to tackle all the things on my personal to do list that I can’t ever seem to find time for. I love the work I do in PA, but the culture of working everyone to death really needs to change.

I know people that work compressed work weeks and feel like they get more done, but for me I get the most amount of work done when remoting from home or working on days the majority of people are out of the office
