Mid-30s first year and already tired. Should I look for a non-firm job?

I worked in the corporate and government worlds before law school. Just graduated and working at a boutique firm, but I'm just...tired. I don't feel like I have the fire in my belly I had when I was fresh out of college, and getting just six billable hours a day seems grueling. I also have imposter syndrome and anxiety about messing up. Will I eventually hit my stride and feel energized by my work instead of drained?

Before you leave voluntarily, try to set boundaries. Be offline after a certain point and don’t email on the weekends. Let them push you out with a severance package rather than stop the paychecks yourself

Good advice. Boundaries are something I need to think about, particularly with the 24/7 culture at this firm.

I have had peaks and troughs since I started practicing. It generally trends better. I found success mentally "recommitting" to the practice for a year and then reassessing. It has been six years and it seems to be working...

Thank you. Thinking about this is helping!

Also want to add that I just ordered a ton of vitamins and need to start exercising. I suspect there's an underlying mental dip going on, too. Worked all through school and during bar studies and haven't had much time off.

What is the most useful technical or soft skills for any mechanical engineer to have where you work? I’m curious to know what really matters for everyone and what makes a big impact on the team and business.

Specifics if you can; CAD tools, simulation, CAD speed or proficiency, industry or standards knowledge, GD&T, certifications, Microsoft Excel, presentation skills, technical writing, project management, self organization, great communication, teaching ability, relationship building, etc.

I have received an offer for Tech Consulting - CS&A department at Senior Consultant position.
Qs-
1. What exactly is CS&A?
2. With almost 7 years of experience (5 years relevant to the profile), is Senior Consultant position appropriate? If not, what should I ask for.

Thanks in advance.

Anyone else tired of the assumption that because you’re a partner you have to think a certain way and believe certain things. I’m talking about wokeness, work from home, and the recent ever constant pushing of the needle to the left or risk getting “cancelled”. I’m fairly liberal politically so for me to be saying this I think may say something for the current climate. I should be able to hold and express my own opinions without being quashed because I’m not “woke” enough.
