Mid term career direction: due to connections I know of an ID firm with an actually good reputation that is planning to open an office in my market within the next year. I’m currently doing ID and will eventually leave it. BUT if the opportunity arises to get on the ground floor and help establish a new office is it worth taking the opportunity? That looks good professionally right?

If you want to continue to be in ID. Might be beneficial to you professionally but I think it would lock you into ID more

Hi,
I have close to 6 YEO in php (symfony) and recently with reactjs and fluent ui. I also have basic knowledge of azure.
Php doesn’t seem to fetch much money and reactjs I have started very recently. I want to switch for better package and product based company.
I am ready to learn any language but what should I select? Java? Scala? Python? etc
How do I get out of this trap of php.

Should I just learn a language and add directly in cv or learn react and move fullstack?

My firm has a collections budget (80% of your billable rate x 1850 hours) and an hourly budget that must be met in order to be eligible for a bonus. The firm cares very little about originations and will reward someone for making their collections over someone who brings in new work. I missed my collection budget due to some odd timing with a client, but originated more than all my peers so no bonus for me. I’ve been at this same mid level firm for 9 years and it’s all I know. Is this normal??

Whoever said employers don’t care about grades and transcripts after your first job was a liar. Every lateral position that I’ve applied to as a 3rd year has requested transcripts. Why do we lie and tell grads that employers don’t check transcripts when they do. My coworker, a 5th yr, had to submit his transcripts also to lateral job. Side note - it speaks volume when multiple associates are trying to lateral at the same time
