My kids always love the Percy Jackson series et all and the diary of a wimpy kid books. Last year they were all fawning over the Amulet graphic novel series.

My kids always love The Outsiders, The Shadow Children series and the Missing series-or anything else by Margaret Peterson Haddix, Laurie Halse Anderson, Rick Riordan's Kane Chronicles, and Wendy Leighton-Porter's Shadows of the past series. If this isn't enough to get you started, I hope your school librarian is as excellent of a resource as mine is.

Hello,
I teach 4th grade at a Christian school. I have been teaching for over 30 years but I have been at this school for 2 years. Since I have been working at this school it seems like everything I do in my classroom it's something wrong with it according to my supervisor. Recently, I was told that I am not getting a new contract for the new school year. I have to find a new school. I was told that I am not a good fit for the school.

Welcome to our pre-k inclusive classroom. Even with 8 students, and only face to face for 4 hours, we struggle. We struggle being heard through our masks. We struggle with social distancing. We struggle as we find ourselves constantly reminding students to keep their masks on. We struggle to keep them engaged and to teach. One thing we do not struggle with- building connections and showing out love for each child.

My husband and I are considering relocating to the Carolinas and I was curious if anyone can give me information about how special education services are typically provided in your state. Do you primarily push in to the classrooms or do you pull students out to individualize their programs? At my school here in Wyoming, my paras work with students in the classroom and I pull individual students and small groups into my room throughout the day to work on their specific IEP Goals.

Anyone use edgenuity? I'm starting Monday with students, never been trained, no guidance. Don't know how to set expectations if I don't know. ice breaker ideas? I'm not in my classroom.. media center.

Just heard that my district will have classroom and live-recording learning. I’m thankful because I now can feed my family, my newborn and a recent-sponsored wife! I’m scared because I’m almost 50 and I’m afraid I might catch the virus and die leaving behind my 1 month baby and a wife who is not legal in the state yet! The USCIS or Trump’s dept. thinks she’s not good enough to be in the US!! We applied for green card and SS card since August 2019!

My choice would have to be “Prince & Knight” by Daniel Haack.

Hello Fellow Fishies! I have taught for eleven years as a gen ed teacher, using my sped cert unofficially. I am excited to begin teaching as an inclusion teacher within three- 7th grade classrooms.
I've been given a budget to spend, but do not really know what I'll be needing, as I'll be in other teacher's classrooms.
What is helpful for you that you have purchased or wish you had purchased? I'm not looking to spend money just for the sake of spending it, but I do have $300. Thank you!

I teach a 7th/8th grade self-contained classroom and I'm looking for recommendations on morning activities, transitions, and non-core subject matter.

I have a high level of ADD/ADHD students, so I was contemplating a Morning Meditation and/or Movement to help them focus more. I also would like to work on incorporating transition periods that will allow them to more easily convert to a six period schedule in high school.

I also enjoy teaching life skills, such as investing, and would love recs

I work with a classroom of Middle School ED students. One student, who I worked with the year before, has changed alot over the year. Last year (pre COVID), she had a good head on her shoulders and I thought I had good rapor with her. But over that period of isolation, she tried to commit suicide.

All year, she was much more withdrawn and ALWAYS on her phone! At the end of the I was 'beat up by her - she really knocked my glasses off.

How should I approach her in the upcoming year?

What PhD and EdD degrees have you considered, and why?

Several years ago, I stopped teaching Shakespeare plays line for line. Instead, I have the kids do a variety of activities to learn the plot, the characters, the history, the language, the literary devices. We watch the plays. We read and analyze the important quotes, soliloquies, monologues, and dialogues. How many teachers out there are teaching Shakespeare differently than the old standard: read an act, take a quiz? And how is that working? Are students more engaged? Best strategies?
