Midlevel NYC finance associate ready to make a move. Has anyone made a move in house since covid/last spring. Trying to see if that’s even an option in this economy

Yes definitely! Are you looking to lateral or move in-house

Interested in going in house!

You sound like me! That’s exactly what I wanted and landed an in-house gig very recently. It’s definitely possible. Keep at it and feel free to DM if I could help further!

Just got a job offer in Dallas but only did virtual interviews because of COVID. I’ve never visited the city. Recommendations on the best area to live in for a single girl late 20s? Need in-law advice. We’ve been very careful with COVID. Our children are too young to be vaccinated. We are visiting parents-in-law (elderly, vaccinated) and sister-in-law (her and her husband vaccinated, two small kids aren’t but they arrived early and are past incubation period). This is an isolated lake house. Turns out this whole other family is staying in the house. We weren’t informed. They are not vaccinated yet all are eligible. One, a camp counselor, is now ill w/ fever, cough, etc.

Last year I lost a good job to Covid-19, so I had to take a job with the first company that offered me employment. I wanted to make it work but my boss is tyrannical and overbearing. I’m miserable working there. My question is: how I conceal my disgust while working with this person? What techniques can I put in place to handle his micro aggressions, while I find something better? Books, articles, ideas? It might take me a long while to find something else and I need to keep my cool.

Heard a new term. Covid-concious. As in 'How Covid-concious are you?' to be mindful of someone's feelings towards the virus and the precautions they are taking, when speaking to them / near them.

Unvaccinated people need to stop with the “but if you’re vaccinated why do you care” argument. Unvaccinated people are akin to drunk drivers. Even if I am sober and wearing my seatbelt, a drunk driver could still cause serious harm to me, my family, and those I care about. An unvaccinated person has a higher likelihood of catching and spreading Covid to others because they are cowards who care only about themselves. You are harming other people.

This was posted somewhere else but seemed compelling enough to discuss…. The right wing political parties are using anti-vax, Covid denialism as an isolating issue to radicalize their base. This does not get them more votes, because these were already their supporters, but it does make them far more entrenched in their views because of the social sunk-cost of alienating them from everyone else. The absurdity and high social and real cost of this belief is actually the whole point. (Cont.)

I have always dreamt of living abroad. A few years in Europe, and then APAC. Transfer plans fell through with covid, and I’m pretty sure they will be delayed due to Delta. Turning 25 this month and feel like that dream is getting farther away. I’ve always been ambitious, but as I’m getting older I’ve realized traveling and exploring other cultures is what truly makes me happy and that’s what I want to use my career in tech to fund. I know this is a first world problem, but has anyone done this?

33 F. All of my friends are having babies. I get really lonely when they aren’t available because they are either tired from child rearing or are actively rearing their children. Happens every weekend, lots of evenings. On top of it, I feel outside of female work groups because I don’t have kids and just can’t talk about the things they talk about. I don’t know how to make this feeling go away, but being exhausted and putting my career on the line for a kid is not the answer. Anyone else?
