Might not be the right place to ask but I’m in PA and I’m trying to get into Finance/Investments (IB if possible). What’s the likely chance I can or what steps should I take?

It is easy to find a broker dealer. You just need to pass the tests. I've had a financial planning practice for 15+ years and bought a tax firm a few years ago. Rules for FINRA exams changed this month and I am not familiar with all the changes, but I seem to remember reading that you no longer have to pick a broker dealer to take the tests. You can buy the study materials, pass the exams and then find a firm to work with. No investment advice until you find a broker dealer or RIA.

Are you looking to leave accounting or add additional services for your clients? Are you looking for a mentor as there are a ton of laws to follow? There is so much that goes into your decision making process, I need some more info or I'll be writing a 12 page response all day. 😊

No idea what SA1 is talking about but there’s only 2 routes. MBA or you know someone. CFA won’t help you without connections.

I’m confident that the SWE career isn’t for me — not as an IC or as a manager. I want to be doing more high-level business/product strategy work and eventually manage people.

I’ve been doing a 20% project as a PM and have discussed ladder transfer with my current L6 PM Manager and a GPM. Need the promo first.

I was interviewed for tech role in Gartner. They confirmed that they would be extending an offer to me on Monday. But I didn’t hear from them after that neither they replied to my follow-up mail. Unpopular opinion - Getting fired/let go is a great thing since it will teach you to be more prepared in the future, your job is never 100% safe, you get reminded you are an employee so no need to overwork, you get to find a better job, once you get back on your feet you won’t fear getting fired/let go anymore since you’ve already went through it and found another job!

We are having a meeting about how to enter in time correctly. When are firms going to realize that there is no incentive from the seniors and below to spend too much time being accurate on time entry. I understand the value of the data, but the data is not reliable or relevant. When are we going to start measuring on results instead of time?

What do you guys think, should do? It’s a huge engagement so it’s room to grow. Should I just suck it up and try?

I took a 20% pay cut along with 20% reduced hours. I am able to support my family with that income and my firm respects my limited hours, but I still need to plan to make sure I can complete tasks in my reduced hours too. Anyways, if you like what you do, but don’t like the long hours and can take a pay cut, I would do it.
