MM analysts/associates - what are your hours and WLB life? Thinking about making the jump from FDD but want to make sure it’s the right move for me from that perspective. I’ve been working average of 55-60 hour weeks and find it very manageable and am still able to have a life. Don’t work most weekends but I have some and have definitely had a handful of nights working past midnight.

I’d say it definitely could vary based on the shop and vertical. For example, I’m on the healthcare team and we grind 85+ hour weeks pretty consistently, whereas our industrials team has way more slack on staffing and they aren’t worked as badly. I’d say Saturdays are normally protected now, but I work on most Sundays

It ebbs and flows. Any job in finance is going to have rough weeks that blow. I wouldn’t expect to go into a role where you’d be pissed off if you have a few 80+ hour weeks in a row, that comes with the comp

Expect 70-80 hours and that you might get a call at any time (granted not 3 am) for urgent work. There have been weeks where the weekend was just as busy as my M-F. The lifestyle is tough, MM, BB or Boutique

Are you talking Baird/Blair/HL MM? Or are you talking boutique sub $250mm EV? Either way you’re going to have busy times and work more than 60hrs. Would expect 9a-12a Monday-Thursday, 12 hours Friday and some weekend work bare minimum.

The first three mentioned yeah

For me it’s less the hours and more the lack of control over your schedule/sheer unpredictability of the job. EX: Can’t totally predict when it will be slow to finally plan dinner out with your SO. Also most of the hours work is after 5PM when ur finally out of meetings and your MD can provide direction. But so is the life of an IB analyst/associate

Any reviews on SADA India which is at Kerala ,trivandrum/Pune,Maharashtra?
Shall a person in early stage of his career join there to have a good grip on cloud and big data ?

I know most of us here aren’t really big fans of RA. I’ve come to terms with just enjoying the fact that we’re client facing and networking for opportunities from that. I was kinda in a rut earlier because I really hated this, but I’ve recently calmed down after getting on some more consultative and business process projects. Ultimately I want to move around, just like many of you, and from my experience so far I feel like it’s a lot easier to do than we think, so just trying to get the most out

I got hired for Senior Test Specialist in IBM and getting an offer of 17lpa + 1.5L joining bonus at band 7A. I have more than 7 years of experience. Also, they said they have some scheme called performance bonus in which we get 10-12% bonus every year. IBMers, need your suggestions. Please advise.

What are the in house exit opportunities?

who else visits this bowl once a week, just to get a dose of depression?

What do you think are exit opps for someone who doesn't want to do straight up audit or accounting? But something that would require that knowledge? Maybe finance related. And when to leave ideally?

I have been working with my current company from last 9+ years and having current package of 17 LPA.
Company work culture is great , no issues with it however I wanted to grab big package so need help , any guidance would be really helpfull ? I haven't switched in my entire career so quite new experience 🤣.

Anyone from the Barclays Toronto office? Would love to connect!

I honestly feel like I'm going crack. I just started IB about half a year ago, and I can tell a lot of the stress that makes it unbearable is linked to being WFH.
I'm trying to hang on until we return to the office but it feels so far away (I'm not in the US, so it'll be much longer)

Any VPs/experienced associates in this group who have helped their clients market, and even monetize, tax basis step up’s on transaction? If so, how do you value the attributes (do you take a rough swig or use a tax advisor to create the model)?

Do people genuinely like IBD or is it for the money? I always thought I enjoyed IBD, until a tech company came and offered me the same amount of money for 40 hours a week and I took it instantly….

I dont understand the concept of DCF at all. I get that were discounting the future expected cashflows but wtf is a haircut? How do you just pull that number out of thin air? Is this all fugayze?

Wasn’t notified that brokerage account needed to be submitted with compliance. Made trades in the past 3 months there. Any ideas what could happen now that I’ve submitted proper documentation?

Checking the bonus thread on WSO, seems bonuses were very underwhelming. What gives?

Can IB peeps help me understand the hours you work. At 80 hours per week the following seem inevitable: High rate of errors or extreme drop off in productivity (most likely both). Emotional reactions. Poor decision making. Little to no creativity. Extreme sleep deprivation or no social life (likely both). Obviously the list could go on. I don’t see how it’s a net benefit to the employee or employer.

Hi guys, anyone know any good recruiters for mid/senior Project or PMO roles in London? Any recommendations would be hugely appreciated

Does anyone use Affinity or MadeMarket for CRM functions at their firms. Asking as the only analyst on my team would be useful from my perspective. Any thoughts?

I’ve been prepping hard for M&A technicals (reading R&P, biws400) for a move to an MM IB firm but got hit up to interview for a T2 consulting firm (LEK, EYP, OY).

My goal is to break into PE potentially but I’m not sure if it’s worth putting in effort for T2 consulting interviews because I believe exits from T2 are more limited compared to an MM IB like JEF. My question really boils down to how do exits from a T2 compare to that of a top MMIB? Appreciate any and all insights!

is deal advisory at b4 easier to get into than IB?
