Mom brain is really keeping me down 😭 I feel so slow and foggy and incapable of making decisions at work sometimes. It takes me a while to get going and be productive. My baby is almost a year old now (and I have an older kid as well). On top of being stressed about being a single mom and stress about work in general I’m am extra stressed about my brain and how much less smart I feel now. Just needed to vent 😭

I feel you. I didn't have time for myself until kid was almost maybe 2. He walked super early and absolutely rejected a playpen of any kind when he was about 10 or 11 months, so it was absolute panic mode, trying to keep him from opening doors and getting into everything, very, very early. He also talked very late: 24-28 mos before he started putting words together well. There was no rest or ease until he turned maybe 2.5, when he started to understand more. He's turned into a champ recently at almost 4, being really sweet and loving and everything. Best wishes, OP. It (generally) gets better.

This was my experience exactly. I unfortunately still get brain fog whenever I’m about to get my period. My work quality is so bad and I can’t even speak coherently.

I am with you PwC! I hate the feeling but it is real. This whole concept of super moms who can do everything and moms that say they got so much better at time management and efficient and all this… they must have older children, amazing support systems they can outsource to or a combination of both because I feel like it’s hard just to survive right now. I don’t feel much better at anything.

Here to commiserate and say I’m sure this season will pass. Suddenly we’ll get our brains back and we’ll miss our babies but hopefully we’ll remember the challenge so we keep our empathy for moms that are in the trenches.

[query] Is it a good idea to say a firm No due to medical reasons to a new night shift project I'm hired in?Accenture

I recently got a night shift project (2 days ago) that requires me to work from 10:30pm till 7:30am

I'm not comfortable with these timings and I'm thinking to ask my manager to put me on Bench (Due to medical reasons that involve mental health)

Is it a nice idea to say a firm No to a new project I'm hardlocked into, due to night shifts?

I will be going back to work after a STD leave due to stress (both personal & professional). I feel like I'm ready and am looking forward to work even. Today I was told that the insurance company recommends a gradual return to work (3h/d ) for the first few weeks. Now I'm nervous about how that will be perceived by my practice, which focuses on chargeability. I'd rather go back at a 100% capacity to avoid any negative perception. People who have gone on STD leave, what was your experience?

I have a friend who has like 5-7 years of regional firm audit experience. He would be manager for sure but doesn't have his cpa and doesn't want to get it (I told him to just do it but he’s stubborn). Problem is he's burnt out and wants a decent job working 40-45 hours a week and can focus on his true passion (mma fighting). Can anyone recommend a job/firm he should look at? Preferably a remote position. Maybe any other general advice?

I started dating this guy some months before covid struck.. he was literally crazy about me. He even stayed in Hyderabad for months just so that we could meet once before he went on to stay with his family. After that it had been a real roller coaster. He pampered me a lot before and now he hardly talks. We both have switched to different companies (earlier were in the same) and now he works 6 days a week. Sleeps or Vists his relatives or works on Sundays. Sometimes I feel he no longer loves me.

They both spend a ton of money on things I don’t find worth it (totally fine) but the thing that bugged me was that as they make more money I can hear how many excuses they make for purchasing stuff, vs being honest about why. “I literally have zero time to go to the grocery store” “i often need random things to be delivered to me on the same day and have zero time to pick it up”. It made me worry that maybe we…
