It’s a great plan. NYC is impossible with small apts, kids, and work from home... My brother and his wife have a 2-y-o - they moved their desks into their one BR last year and both worked out of it while nanny watched kid in the living room area. My hubby and I just had a baby and live in a tiny 1 BR with alcove - aka, no walls except in BR which is too small to work in. My desk is in the alcove. I have no clue how I will function working in the alcove with no walls while hubby watches baby on his paternity leave. I have calls and meetings all day..good luck to me. Your solution is more than okay- New Yorkers with small children have had a really tough time..

uplifting

Sounds rough to me. I send mine to daycare and really enjoy the productive and quiet workday.

I started mine at 2.5 months. Honestly he loves it. He is 9 months now loves the activities and watching the other kids.

I would think it might be easier for you and your husband to work in an office together (with headphones) and give baby and nanny the bedroom for naps and living room for playing. Baby will soon need to nap in a dark, quiet area alone (because seeing their caregiver stimulates them to stay awake) which means your nanny won’t be able to do anything but just sit there quietly while baby naps. Normally, nanny can wash bottles, do laundry, pick up toys, pack the diaper bag up, etc while baby naps. Pending your arrangement, light housekeeping can even be included.

Or I can ask KPMG if I can work out of the office (not sure if thats feasible). If yes then the nanny/baby can have access to the living room and one of the bedrooms

I’d ask just to see. I think it would be tough otherwise (but doable if you have to)

I think it's a great plan! We're in a 2 bed apt in NYC as well. And my husband and I work out of each of the bedrooms, our son attends online school in the living room and the nanny cares for the baby there as well. However for naps etc the baby is in the bedroom with me and since most of my calls are in the morning when the baby is awake I can continue to work while the baby naps undisturbed.

I need an opinion. I've been considering changing my H-1B to F-1. Reason being that my current job is taking an immense toll on my health. I don't think taking a leave of absence would help since I now fundamentally just don't agree with the career and feel hopeless. My exit opportunities are very limited because it'd likely be a job of the same nature as the one I have. I'd be hard, but I'm willing to go back to school to study something else and try a different career. Is this doable?
