We swaddled before they were asleep. We always put him down while still awake so he lesrned to fall asleep. We swaddled with arms out because he disliked his arms restrained

Get velcro swaddles--I loved Halo. They won't get undone and baby will feel cozy

My 6 week old can still bust his hands out of Halos 😳

Swaddling isn’t about the actual swaddle cloth - but the act of making them comfortable on their back without instigating the moro’s reflex. As everyone said - take the TCB newborn class! I personally love the happiest baby swaddles the best

like

Same. The happiest baby swaddles were my favorite too.

Try this taboo 🙈 let baby sleep on their belly as you supervise. Chances are that back sleeping causes your L1 to startle themselves easily amid sleep. It worked like magic for my kids. And for every kid of my generation 🙊

As a researcher who worked at the same institution with the professor who identified stomach sleeping as a cause of SIDS, this advice is dangerous and not recommend by any competent medical professional.

We swaddled before rocking or any attempts to put them to sleep. We started with the Velcro sleepers, but transitioned to the big muslin clothes once we got comfortable with how tight we needed to make the swaddle. You can also try the sleep sacks with the weight on the tummy, I can’t remember the brand, but it might help soothe Baby if you don’t like to swaddle.

Read or watch The Happiest Baby on the Block. You’re in the 4th trimester and tactics to mimic what it was like in the womb (swaddling, white noise, etc) help soothe your baby at this time.

What about love to dream?

This is my fav! Put it on before they are asleep (which I believe is the case with a regular swaddle to).

Yes you need to swaddle before they’re asleep. Take the taking Cara babies sleep class

I like the love to dream ones as well as zippadee (sleeping baby). They are easy zipper ones that are harder to wiggle out of, while also giving baby a little more freedom. Hands are up near their face which is a more natural sleeping position for babies. Around 4-5 months they lose the startle reflex and can transition to sleeveless sleep sacks, though zippadee is flexible enough to continue using (my 1 year old still likes them!)

I hope this administration implements Federal parental leave. I don't understand how and why we still tout ourselves as the greatest country in the world, and we don't even have basic paid parental leave.

For moms in California - can anyone explain to me how the FMLA/Paid Leave works in coordination with EY’s sixteen weeks? It seems that all the new moms take 6 months and I’m trying to figure out how that works if we’re only given 16 weeks. My husband and I are currently waiting for an adoption placement so I have no idea when I’ll need to use it, but I’m hoping it’s sometime soon :) Since I’m not actually pregnant, asking these questions feels weird, but I keep reminding myself it’s okay. TIA!

Our nanny takes my 7 month old out for one, sometimes 2, long walks every day (weather permitting). Love the idea of fresh air every day but its often for several hours at a time and he always returns home crying bc she's pushed him to his limit between feedings. She brushes it off saying hes just fussy which kind of irks me. Im also concerned that he's spending too much time strapped in a stroller. Is it reasonable to ask her to take shorter walks? Am I overreacting?

Has anyone been through this? I know of two people around my age that got pregnant naturally with their second baby after IVF. Does anyone know about banking embryos for future use instead of transferring? My insurance doesn’t cover anything so all this of out of pocket.

My personal opinion used to be never put my hands on a woman unless my child or family is in danger or if she had a weapon But now Idk anymore

Since George Floyd's murder and the sudden Corporate America "wokeness," I (black guy) have been routinely contacted by unacquainted Partners who explicitly state something to the effect "Client X wants diversity, so we'd like you on this deal..." It really comes across as tone deaf and completely patronizing. I appreciate the efforts to diversity (albeit forced), but Partners really need to learn how to not be so supercilious in the approach. You don't have to overtly state that I'm the quota.

I try to normally be engaged and quick with stuff client side or internal stuff but it truly blows my mind how slow HR is on things. Like if I was to be this slow client side, I’d be fired. Does anyone have similar experiences over the past year?

What would you do: in discussion with a small agency to potentially work full time. They wanted to do a 60 day engagement first to see if its a good fit. Kick the tires from both parties makes sense. They asked for my rates and gave them an hourly freelance rate to where they asked if I’d be willing to do a rate that was based off my “future” un-guaranteed employment salary, less than $100/hr, which was less than half my freelance rate. Does this sound fishy? Am I wrong to be skeptical?
