I am making my first switch and have got an offer letter. Do I need to accept the offer letter? If I get further offers too, do I have to accept all the offers? Or should I collect all the offers and accept only one at the end of notice period? Or accept all the offers and then select one to join? I am confused about this. Need help on all these offer procedures. Tata Consultancy Cognizant Wipro Infosys Accenture

We live in Larchmont . Pros- The vibe is more approachable and the money is less overtly on display - which we liked. Very walkable- We walk to school, art/ dance/ music classes, the farmers market, restaurants etc. Walking to elementary school instead of the AM hassle of drop off has changed our lives for the better. It’s filled with ex- Brooklyn or ex- UES folks who moved when they needed more space. Beaches are nice for summer. Cons- taxes are insane and there is a “larchmont markup” on everything- tradespeople, cleaning people, lawn care etc. Houses are smaller/ older on average and it’s really tough to find one as they sell like hotcakes
Most people use au pairs or a nanny. There are some full day daycares but they are not in larchmont - you’ll need to go to new rochelle. For Pre K - lots of options - but have to start early to get on lists. Larchmont Ave, Weekday, Larchmont Temple, St. John’s. Larchmont is split into three zones - the manor (by the water), the village (near town), and then further north (the brook, Rouken glen etc). The kids tend to go different places and then feed into the local elementary school if that makes sense. If you need a good real estate agent DM me. We really liked ours.
Before covid (and changing work needs) I did a lot of house hunting across NY and CT. New Canaan is BY FAR the best town. And if not every day, I’d still commute to NYC.
I would agree thus far bc it’s much less dense than any of the other towns I’ve looked at, higher ranked schools, cute town, and countless amenities for the kids all within a super short drive. Just can’t seem to deal with the hour and a half commute, would prefer to spend that time w kids.
New Canaan is fantastic and I would definitely recommend but a few of those super small lower Fairfield County towns (New Canaan, Darien particularly ) can be pretty brutal socially for kids. I grew up going to private school in Greenwich, which would probably be similar to public school in New Canaan, and man was that rough but the public schools there dont have that vibe. Surprisingly Greenwich is much much bigger and more socially and economically diverse, and far less insular. It also has wonderful libraries and arts and museums and stuff. I know its “greenwich” and has the reputation that follows it but check it out!
grew up NC and would recommend NC - easier commute to Stamf and don't have to pay NY taxes
Sounds great in theory but am afraid of how difficult it would be to find a role in Stamford. Will have to start sending out some resumes soon!

Would you do private schools if in Larchmont? I grew up in Darien and am more inclined to say New Canaan but it depends on school plans.

New Canaan schools are better but with that comes a whiter and more insular community. As your kids get older there is for sure a lot of appeal in getting jobs in Stamford and dramatically cutting commute time, though.
And if you moved to Larchmont, where would you work?
Manhattan
New Canaan It's like comparing Walmart to Target. New Canaan is by far more desirable, and more pricey.
New Canaan without a doubt.
