Monday 6:30 am CST reoccurring meeting, yes or no? Once in a while, I feel fine. But, it seems that meeting schedule is getting out of hand nowadays.

I have meetings like that regularly but my case is unusual and we are managing across 3 continents. If all in similar time zones I would push back.

If everyone is in CST, absolutely not. If you're managing across multiple time zones where that's in normal working hours for most folks, likely acceptable, though I'd ask the team to see if it could be rescheduled, unless that would push it out of working hours for other members on the team.

It’s the cost of an international project, tbh. Never an ideal time. If anything it can help you be more deliberate in setting expectations around who attends which calls, when you jump off for the day (or take a 1-2 midday break) etc. Daily would be a grind. Weekly is manageable.

Not ok, such meetings get regularly moved or started late because 1 person forgets it. So if it‘s reoccurring: definitely a no-go. If it‘s only on specific occasions: sure.

Be thankful you aren’t on the west coast where it’s 2 hours worse.

Very thankful!!

I’d personally decline the series at that point, but that’s because I have Sunday 9:30pm and 10:30pm calls and I’ll only do either late night calls or early morning calls but not both.

Bruh. I feel you. However at this point I’d suggest show yourself to be a team player and power through

Is that some type of call with offshore? If so, they need to adjust to US working hours - not the other way around.

@SM2: Not sure where *white* privilege enters the equation?

If this is the best time for the team, then I would make it work. Can you maybe end your day earlier if you're starting earlier? On the plus side, if you're WFH, 6:30am isn't as hard of a stretch as it normally would be. I would do everything I could to not make this reoccurring though. Can the time be shifted? Is your attendance required everyday? Is a daily meeting even needed? Can it be replaced with written status updates on most days?

It is not a daily fortunately. There were once in awhile 6 am CST call with the offshore. But the 6:30 one is now on recurrence basis. CST, EST and offshore team. Never take off early neither, just the day get longer.

If you're on a mid or long term project that requires you to work earlier hours, why aren't you ending your day earlier? Are you setting boundaries? Because no one is going to set them for you.

I did something like that for 3 months with my Indian development team...after 3 months I was pooped.

I need perspective. I was scheduled for a bunch of spa services today before a vacation. Early in the morning, a spa lady calls me to reschedule. I tell her I can’t reschedule due to my job. She replies that she remembers me mentioning that from a previous appointment she “helped me rescue.” She never acknowledged knowing me prior to that comment. I was offended as it came across as judging my stress level and availability based on a service I received years ago. Did I get unreasonably upset?

Where would you go from here if you were me? Was making good money at the midsize...

Does anyone use Root insurance? I’m intrigued by the low prices (my quote is about $85 vs my current $150 with State Farm) but am concerned as to whether it’s legitimate. More specifically if I ever do get into a serious accident are they reliable? This assumes same coverage for both policies.

How long do you think this will last? GT is remote up to 3/31, it will definitely go past that. My bet is summer, but some have said the rest of the year. Others until we get a vaccine. Thoughts?

Debating on investing on our first rental property. We were initially thinking about a rental in our area code (northern virginia) but all ideas/threads on here seem to indicate renting a beach front property on airbnb would be a win-win. Get mortgage covered over the summer and use it as a vacation home during winter. Is it that straightforward, what are we missing? Any reasons why we should not invest in a beachfront and instead stick to original plan? Tia!
