Monday I’m joining a project where I’m managing a team for the first time - Analyst, Summer Schlolar and 3 offshore/USI. Feeling nervous and wanting to make it great for all- tips, tricks, advice?

One solid tip I’ve learned when dealing with offshore is to delegate someone as the offshore lead. Have one on one calls with the routinely to discuss how things are progressing and if things aren’t progressing as you would like don’t be afraid to get on the lead’s case and ask what’s up. Just because you are the onshore doesn’t mean they will obey you right out of the gate. You need someone offshore to crack the whip on your behalf

Just think about some of the bad managers you’ve had in the past and don’t do that. Also, trust your team and delegate effectively

Spend the time getting to know your USI team, especially how they operate. If you understand them well, they will work like crazy for you. Also for both USI and the other folks learn when to push vs when not to. Pushing folks too hard all the time leads no where

Hi folks,

I have 9 years of experience as a QA out of which last 2-3 is an individual contributor (sole qa owner) plus team lead of a qa team.. I want to pursue masters in the UK so I can have a role like Project Manager/Test Manager/Scrum Master in the future.. what course should I go for:
1. MSc Management
2. Business Analysis and Consulting
3. MBA (not so easy as I don't want to give GMAT, will select certain colleges that do not need GMAT score)

In developing a new PM department within a small Pharma company a colleague and I are trying to determine the best PM software/program to utilize. For reference we are steering away from MS Project and currently looking into Smartsheets. Does anyone have any other recommendations for a program they found useful? We want to have a dashboard that collates information from cross functional teams but, that can simultaneously be utilized for the individual teams. Tracking milestones, risks,budget...

I have awesome creative work from a client that has fallen into scandal. Specifically, they were a recently acquired beverage company who’s CEO was in a sexual scandal and then the company went into layoffs and rushed get more investor money to try to salvage the business. Needless to say, it didn’t work but the brand got sold to some super conglomerate.

All this to say, do I put the good work in my portfolio? Do I keep it password protected? What would you do?

Hey Recruiters!
I’ve worked from the creative side to strategy to accounts to client side and have done so all over. I had to take about a year and a half long break for health reasons and am having a hard time having anyone even look at my resume. Are there ways I can show recruiters that I’m interested in settling down and building a true foundation at one company? Or is there a program (not requiring a bachelors) that can be taken to increase my network and likelihood of landing a position?

Left big four as a first year manager for a controller role with a smaller audit client. When I left I had no idea what my long term goal was or where I wanted to end up. Half a year into the new gig and realize it’s not what I want to do. I don’t think I realized the pros of a manager role for a large company at the time, or even a service line change within big four. My daily tasks are repetitive and not challenging and there’s more small stuff to deal with. What should my next move be?
