Sorry, for me it kind of is everything. I enjoy the lifestyle and benefits it brings. I find ways to address the stress that comes with it and some of those coping tools are available due to my salary.

Additionally if your company seems like it's good but you are feeling very overworked/overwhelmed on your current team, realize that there are other teams at your company or opportunities at other companies that could be better suited for you.
You're right, OP. It doesn't make sense for people to keave amazing jobs with great culture and good wlb for 10% more money at a place with bad culture and bad wlb. But remember that many people find themselves in a bad situation to begin with. If you're already in a stressful environment with bad culture, you might as well go to a different stressful environment that pays 40% more.

Is Microsoft messing with your health?
Some people just aren’t suited for the borg https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Borg. I like to keep my work life separate from my home life. Microsoft wants to be your family.

agreeeee
Agreed OP. But I asked all the questions and came to this job because it fit my needs. Then I got promoted up to a level where I'm now bad a my job, a la "The Peter Principle".
Problem is, to leave to a job I am good at (manager, senior) or take a demotion at my current employer to do the job I liked, I would really have to take a pay cut.
I don't want a pay cut.
I'll keep accepting the money I guess
I understand. Nobody wants a pay cut. But for myself when I’m not in a job I like, I spend more money trying to get satisfaction from my life outside of work. Sometimes making less money is more rewarding in the long run.
