Title until you are an officer. After that money
A title can't pay rent or buy you a new car.
40%?!
20%?! Are you sure?! My promotion was only12% and it was fair market value (according to the SVP) and you're lucky to reach low or just below industry average range. Disclaimer: Dentsu Aegis or more specifically Carat is cheap and pay poorly at all levels under Director. Confirmed by HR personnel themselves.
Dentsu is a bunch of cheap motherfuckers right up until AD. Was told by HR during interviews that no one below director got bonuses. That agency is a shithole.
I'm out. Can't wait to watch that place burn from afar
Ha! I always thought iProspect was better than Carat. I guess everything is turning to shit. I know we haven't won any new biz in over a year. Last major account I think is Mondelez.
iProspect is just firmly attached to Satya Nadella's ballsack. Mostly because their marketing team burned bridges with the other networks.
Problem with titles is there is no consistency across the market. At PR firms everyone is an SVP. at consultancies Senior Manager is a pretty senior title. At legacy Sapient, Director was as senior a title you got unless you were on the executive management team reporting to a single regional MD who reports to c suite. That title was VP. They don't line up so the money is the best way to evaluate seniority across the landscape.
Thanks. :)
SVP - interesting, what is your rationale?
How much are we talking about?
40% is a lot to command so it's relative to what position you are going after. I have read a lot of views about this. Do you really have to pick one over the other? When will you have the time (and how much of it) and "network" to make it to officer to then talk money? Don't under sell yourself for title, your career at the end of the day should at least provide/support you. SVP is right about that point. After making officer you're basically at the top of the ladder, money is all you have left to talk about.
Rationale: Promotion comes with a 20% bump, getting you to the bottom of the scale. After two years and annual 2.5 percent bumps, you will probably hop for another 10-15%. Another way: get the title at Agency A, kill it for 15 months, lie to Agency B about salary, get HUGE bump.
See! Even iProspect, our sister agency is saying the same shit. Can't wait for Carat to have their own bullshit come full circle. Hate to admit it in this day and age but it's definitely a "only our type of people" up at the top.
You are right. iProspect's biggest account is Microsoft. Honestly, I still feel "Empower" is better than Carat. Every account is breaking down in some ways.
I've done some moving in my career. In my experience don't take a flat comp title bump. Cash is king.
I don't care what you call me. Just pay me and give me a good work environment.
