Does anyone else find it ridiculous that firms require a minimum daily time entry? For example, my firm requires us to bill 6 hours a day, whether or not it’s billable work, we have to have a minimum of 6.0 in our time entry system every day or we get flagged. If we’re on vacation we have to pre-bill 6.0 a day. Why the hell do firms do this???
To all you lovely 🏳️🌈 fish, wishing you a happy, healthy and restful holiday season filled with love❤️🧡💛💚💙💜
Know holiday tipping culture is big in NYC for doormen etc... for those currently with (or who previously had) a front desk at your residence building that handles security/packages/deliveries/etc, how much do/did you give?
Need some inspiration...fam keeps asking for my holiday gift list and I have very few ideas for myself (34M). Have a few crutches I can lean on from wardrobe/hobbies (golf etc.). Anyone have any go-to, can’t-live-without items they recommend? (Budget <$500 per item)
I feel so stuck in my life (28F). I just want to find my person and start building a life together. I feel like I have nothing to look forward to. I just want to create holiday memories with my new family and instead, I’m looking at another season with my dysfunctional as hell family. I know a negative attitude and comparing myself to others isn’t helping me, but I can’t seem to lift myself out of my funk…
Landed a new job!! Couldn’t be more excited! I have two questions though— 1) how would you go about quitting your current job when in the middle of a two week holiday break? 2) I would like to negotiate for $5k-$10k more. Any tips from anyone who has done so successfully
"Almost 40% of millennials work every day of their vacation" No offense but that's just f#*$ing stupid. Stop that.
I see a very faint second line testing on the day of my period.. low key freaking out because in the last week on vacation I have dyed my hair with balayage, eaten sushi, drank a beer or cocktail with dinner every night and had two cups of coffee every morning. Obviously ceasing all of this but have I already caused damage?
Is it possible to designate your last day of employment over a holiday? Say Thanksgiving this year (11/26/2021) to take advantage of the holiday benefit and get that paycheck?
H1B stanping question - I just got my h1b renewed, but i need to travel in december to Asia and likely the place im travelling to will not return my passport before i have to return to the US due to christmas and new years holidays. If i go to Toronto, Canada before this and try to get the stamp before asia trip can i work while im getting the stamping done? Or is that illegal? Im afraid of taking too much vacation time across both trips.
Taking some time off. Need some book recommendations. Some light interesting non-fiction. No self help or management books. Just interesting topics that won’t make me think about work.
Anyone interested in joining on a trip to Morocco and Egypt this december holiday break ?
I haven’t taken any vacation (other than one day here and there) all year. I’m taking two weeks off at the end of November and just told a partner and he was shocked (presumably at the length). Is this a faux pas?
Is it terrible to put in notice even though it overlaps with a holiday? If it's unavoidable?
Any tips on managing, avoiding or reducing tolerance besides “use less” or “take time off?”. Taking magnesium daily based on anecdotal evidence it helps.
What does OOO stand for? Wrong answers only. (Inspired by PTO) thread. I’ll start with Observing Other Opportunities.
Guys I have a virtual interview with a company and it’s with 3 people in leadership in a little bit! Any last minute words of wisdom/advice/luck?! Could really use it!
What is the general opinion on increasing salary: is it easier to do from within or jumping to another firm?
M7 mba candidate, and looking at post mba options. Main plan is finance, but open to staying in consulting if the money is right. What is the post mba salary like in consulting at any of the shops?
What is the best way to prep for case interviews if you don’t know anyone you can do live practice cases with? Was anyone else able to adequately prepare without doing live cases?
Interviewing for MIT Sloan Fellows MBA (1 year program) shortly. 10YOE and joining MBB in a couple of months, post-MBA level role. Reading some previous FB posts disparaging the SF program and feeling a bit downhearted about it. Are Sloan Fellows really looked down on by the normal (2 year) Sloan MBA program? Are there better alternatives for a 1 year MBA? MIT has been a dream for a while but it’s kind of like being told your baby is ugly…
Anyone with suggestions of how much further i can increase this offer. Facebook Data Scientist IC5 (London) Base -88k Pounds Bonus- 15% RSU: USD 60k over 4 years. No sign on but relocation package offered on signing contract. My current YOE is 7 years and i also got a recent promotion in current role.
Any more word on the PwC Forensics layoffs? It appears to be going on in multiple markets.
How open are you to telling co-workers you're thinking of leaving the firm? Do you wait till you have an offer at hand or once you start interviewing? Does your relationship with the person determine how early you tell them?
What has this whole Covid-19 situation and the craziness (volatile economy, folks’ fragile mental health, social distancing phenomenon, life as a bubble etc etc...) associated with it taught you so far?
Does your resume bullet points matter at all if you just have public accounting experience. Like if you say you are tax in Big 4 and you do Federal does anything else really matter to employers?
Hi! I have 200k cash, 600k worth of stocks, 401k and husband works full time. I would like to start investing on rental properties with cash flow so I can quit my 9-5 job and spend more time with my 2 small kids. Which areas are great for cash flow and landlord friendly and any tips or things to watch out on investing in real estate?
Really starting to wonder why people in PA are so underpaid? Hearing my friends, who work in other other industries, talk about their higher salaries almost makes me sick. They work 9-5, have less of a workload, and WAY more of a work/life balance. Not here to complain, just think this is a major issue in our industry and something to consider since turnover is supposedly at an all time high.
I work in the Human Capital space and manage projects. What is worth more - SPHR or PMP? Or do either count? Obviously want to make Director and eventually more...
I’m currently on PIP b/c low utilization and “Performance trends” during my first pregnancy. I’m pregnant again, I was not promoted due to PIP, does that mean I won’t be eligible for paid mat. leave?
I assume everyone is back to office 5 days a week or more,m. How is everyone taking their interviews? (Sick day, doctors appointment?)
Got a client in their late 30's who already fully funds their 401k's, paying down the mortgage at a really fast pace, no kids, funding a non-qualified joint investment portfolio, have plenty...con't
Just curious, what percentage of your billable rate do you take home? Calculation would be ((Salary and Bonus/Yearly Billable Hours)/Billable Rate). For me it's about 18% as a Senior 1 in M&A Tax (note this doesn't include other benefits).
