Why do companies give huge hikes to people switching when existing people can be made to do theame work at no to nominal hike ?
What value companies see in people switching?
It must not be that there is ground sky difference in skills of people coming after switch and existing ones.

If they give you, then they need to give other 100 people in your team

It's better to give double salary to new guy

In my point of view new hiring happens when there is a spot vacant and there is no existing employee that is suitable. Then it's understandable to give that hike. This is a ideal case But i am not sure about big service companies how they work in this regard.

They need to see fresh or new people having fresh or different ideas/workstyle

I have the same confusion as well, TCS even recruits employees with less than half skills of existing employees and gives them double salary.

We, normal humans can't understand their logic

New people brings new perspective and innovative ideas. Ppl staying in the same company knows the way to get the work done w/o putting much efforts. Jokes apart it's the trend and nothing more!!😅

Just think for ex TCS has 5 lakhs employees all around the world and every project has its own profit margin, And on an average let's say TCS hires 25k employees every year, So they definitely go with giving 25k people with higher salary rather than giving it to existing 5lakhs employees - Anyhow they know people's desire for more money will not end no matter how much you give them hence this is the only way for them...

I have always wondered this. If anyone knows let me know. It drives me NUTS.

Has anyone recently been laid off for returning to the office? My mom was recently laid off from HDR in Fort Worth after declining to return to the office. My sister, who she lives with, works at a hospital with COVID, and both (thank goodness) have survived the disease. Is there anything she can do? She’s filing in a Texas for unemployment, I just feel as a older employee (63) with a grand record of Hispanic relations she wouldn’t have been let go without refusing to return to the office.

Which offer would you take?

EYP TSE Senior Consultant: 180k +15% expected bonus +30k signing.

AlixPartners EI Vice President: 180k +$55k bonus, no signing bonus.

Leaning towards EYP since the WLB will probably be better with less travel. I’m OK with travel, I just expect to be better compensated for having to do so often. My goal is to stay in consulting long term.

Currently a manager at a B4 making less than both these offers.

Any news about H1B extensions? Been hearing some rejections for consulting employees like us due to client sow end dates.

Is it true?
