A4 this is either the greatest troll on earth or just awesome. Not only have you conflated your eating choice with racism but this is also the "worst" experience you have had in your career. Congrats.
1) Client had to redo my name plate 3 times because they used the picture of the wrong Asian the first 2 times. 2) After being here for 16 months, client still refers to me by the name of another Asian in weekly meeting minutes. 3) Microwave at the client site has an "oriental" button.
"You don't look Jewish. Did you have a nose job?"
A guy I didn't click with on my team posted about me on FB and called me out by first name (Pooja)
Client at dinner: "I like my steaks just like my girls: brown on the outside but pink in the middle."
"Do you have any Indians on your team? ...dots, not feathers."
I got asked whom I was serving/bringing room service to by a partner in a hotel elevator who didn't recognize me after having had lunch with my group
I was sitting at a table full of firm leadership and they started talking about how gross gay people are - I'm also gay, but obviously not dumb enough to be open in this industry
Client said something about not moving his kid to a city full of Mexicans because it would be dangerous
That slide looks gay. You need to fix the charts
As a white male it must be nice D4 #whatproblems#whatproblems
I've noticed in my last four years that people assume I'm incompetent because I have an accent, am brown, and look scrawny. I have to kill myself to gain their trust in every situation, and it's exhausting, especially when managers and senior managers are mediocre and lackluster
While at a boutique we had a small insane client. We had an Asian woman on the team and the client kept making dominatrix jokes towards her... she was a seasoned hand from the auto industry and wanted us to ignore it, after two days we didn't come back for a third. Told leadership to fire this guy as a client and they actually did.
I've noticed that my opinions are constantly second-guessed or not trusted until backed up a white colleague (I'm a black woman) even if he or she is less experienced. Then there are also the weird comments regarding my appearance including "such an interesting hybrid," "you don't look black" and the ever-popular "what are you?"
Are you really Indian? But your English is so good. Are your sure you didn't study in England or Australia? (I'm pretty sure I didn't study in England or Australia unless I had an accident and forgot that part of my life)
As a white male I have to say you guys are way too sensitive. 👹
To my face - I'm Hispanic
I got the "you must be good at math" comment a lot. I am Asian.
I didn't believe in racism in undergrad, I naively believed the world was a meritocracy, but after four years in this industry I definitely see it. This whole job has been a somewhat/moderately racist experience
Being a black woman, there are too many moments to name .. The worst part is people don't think they're being racist and when you say something about it, you're being sensitive... 😒
