Consulting

Mother of two (both under 5), have been in consulting over 10 years....recently shifted to industry. But don’t feel as motivated as I used to. How do you keep yourself going?

Change your focus to your kids /family and just work for the paycheck? If that’s just not you, then maybe think about returning to Consulting? I have a quote in my office for the days when I’m completely unmotivated by what I’m working on: “Teach yourself to love it, and you will become insanely successful.” Sometimes a mind game helps!

I had a similar feeling when I moved to industry. I ended up coming back to consulting—I am happier, but I do realize consulting may not be the long term career for me if I get married and have kids

Take on 'personal' projects - read, go to the gym, plan things for the family. Keep yourself in good mental and physical health so that you can flip the switch and go back to a grind at some point if you choose.
