Mothers working in NY, NJ, California. Did you take the 4 weeks before due date short term disability benefit? I am curious why this benefit does not seem to be widely taken by many folks.

Yes, of course! 4 weeks prior to due date!

CA based. Took all 4 weeks. Don’t understand why someone wouldnt take them.

like

I did too!

Yes!!!! It was lovely, and ended up being closer to six weeks bc babe was not in a hurry.

KPMG provides STD beginning four weeks before your due date in all states

like

I only got two weeks prior for NY

PWC 1, yes i heard it is upto 4 weeks

Does anyone know when this went into effect? I gave birth (in NYC) in 2018 and took 2 weeks PTO before my due date (bc I was sooooo over it by then) but no one said boo about having that time available as short term disability. Wondering if I got screwed but will def keep that in mind for baby no.2

Nobody clearly explained it to me as to how to structure my mat leave and different components. The leaves team people are pathetic and each person told me different stories.

like

Wasnt aware.. on bench/doing light work anyway 🤷‍♀️

I’m in California and def took the full four weeks before my due date with both my mat leaves. Why wouldn’t you?? It’s use it or lose it, and fully paid. I loved that time to myself to get all my nesting out of the way, and pamper myself with some “me time” (lots of walks, yoga, pedicure, movies by myself, etc.).

Was it fully paid by PWC or the state? ACN said they don’t pay for this unless it’s disability and it’s only partial pay from the state.

Maybe it is a new thing in NY then. Couple of Metlife call center people confirmed that you can take upto 4 weeks of STD before due date with no additional medical documentation

Hi! I’m doing some research on employee benefits (medical insurance, 401k, HSA/FSA, commuter benefits) and was hoping to connect with People specialists or HR professionals in the comp & benefits space. EY 🐠 - potentially starting with the firm soon, and my partner is due to have our first in April. Given the 1 year service requirement for leave, would I have the option to take PTO during birth and use parental leave after my 1 year of service? Appreciate any guidance here

Does anyone have advice/ experience with disclosing or advocating for your ADHD support needs in highly toxic environments? Or getting formal disability accommodations?

I’m on a VERY toxic project where I really need accommodations but I am scared there will be repercussions if I personally disclose my ADHD like I have on past projects.

I submitted an HR request for accommodations and it’s been ignored for over a week.

I really can’t take another week of spending every day crying.

Stock market weatherman here! Jobless claims up more than 1M, lowest since April. A second wave of COVID is on the way, no vaccine in sight. Stimulus has stalled. Tensions with China escalate. Weather model says these signs point to sunny skies 🌞 Not a cloud in sight, only higher highs.

Hi all! I’m in the search of a remote HRBP role, looking for a company that is willing to pick me up as a new HRBP. I’ve been in the role 4 months, but this company is a disaster. I've been in practice for about a year at a high stakes plaintiffs litigation firm. I make $85/year, I'm in the office at 8 and leave around 5:30. I work occasionally on Saturdays. When we have something big coming up, I stay extra to get it done in time. I've never missed a deadline.

I had a meeting this week where the partners told me they questioned my commitment because they were working more hours than me.

Am I the problem here and should work more, or is it time to find a new job?
