Whoa....no need to paint with such a broad brush. Not all of us are like that! I value my team tremendously and go out of my way to recognize them every chance I get. Maybe you need to branch out and experience other (better) directors.
I disagree. Movie directors may not seem to do much, but they are crucial to the success of a movie. They are the ones who oversee all the aspects of the movie and make sure it is cohesive. Without them, movies would be a mess. Some definitely don't move a single finger and just complain, but I know some get involved with every aspect of the movie from start to finish and work with everyone.
Sounds like someone has only worked with lazy, entitled directors. I’ve seen my fair share - directors are like any other captain of a team. Some push, and some lead.
I’ve worked with people who inspire and some who would clearly rather be anywhere else. It’s all about personality and work ethic.
I hear you, but just know that this doesn't apply to all directors. You've likely had the misfortune of working with terrible people but there are certainly directors out there that act as great leaders and recognize people's work. Good luck!
Oof. Not all of them. There are some that are genuinely hardworking and passionate about their craft.
Sounds like more of a toxic work environment than movie directors all being bad eggs. Some of them are better than others. Better luck on the next projects!
It's funny because you're a Director yourself. Maybe you haven't worked with really good ones yet. Your bad experience doesn't speak for all working in the same field.
I'm on my 3rd project/film since I started in this industry and I am yet to encounter good-natured directors myself. Can't wait to try my luck on the 4th project😅
..and they get all the recognition for after. It's tragic, I know. But that is the business for you. It is irritating I know, especially if the production team is keeping the ship afloat.
