Been severely struggling with depression and anxiety lately. Obviously this job is one big reason why. I opened up to the partner a few months back about it when I started missing random days when I couldn’t get out of bed. Maybe 2/3 days over the last 4 months total. This week he sat me down and told me he is worried about my mental health causing me to be a “liability” to the firm. I can’t stop thinking about this and don’t know how to turn it around.
Have any of your agencies taken steps towards acknowledging and addressing mental health issues in your office? Care to share, good or bad? Hoping to get ideas to take back to our leadership. Thanks!!

to 🐠 with severe anxiety/prone to panic attacks: i need guidance on how to help my loved ones manage through their anxiety. their anxiety is usually triggered by health related situations so COVID-19 has been especially difficult for them. scenarios of them getting triggered include when they’re running, they sometimes get bouts of coughs so then they panic, thinking they can’t breathe. or they accidentally touch harsh chemicals and think they injected toxins. how can i help and be supportive?
Anyone unhappy with their health coverage? Options are closing soon and I am able to help you get the right plan for your needs and budget. My help is free, and I take all your needs into consideration when narrowing down your best options ❤️
Interesting read about folks who won’t take vaccines. Lots of different rationales, but they all boil down to people thinking they’re smarter than experts (a common problem in modern America) and a general “you can’t tell me what to do” attitude. https://www.theatlantic.com/ideas/archive/2021/05/the-people-who-wont-get-the-vaccine/618765/
Do any of your firms have mental health/wellness initiatives? I want to start one at mine but have no idea how to go about it
My wife’s employer doesn’t offer short term disability benefits for pregnancy. We just learnt she might be pregnant. How do I go about buying short term disability insurance ?
Anyone know of any boutique consulting firms in Minneapolis that are low travel? Ideally with a healthcare/medtech practice
Does anyone know what PwC's health benefits are like? I am onboarding and the packet just says it covers up to 75% of a gym membership or something like that. I'll be in the NYC office too if that affects anything
My employer was acquired yesterday and I got word that my termination is effective today, but I have a meeting with someone from the acquiring company’s HR today to review separation documentation and discuss a potential consulting agreement. Any insight on what to expect? Is there typically any room for negotiation in these situations? When I hear consulting, I think of reduced benefits, mainly lack of health insurance which wouldn’t be ideal.
Has anyone ever taken a short term leave of absence to deal with mental health issues relating to being overloaded and overwhelmed with work? I’m at my breaking point with no end in sight of things slowing down. If I tell the COO, will this affect my career at the firm by doing this? Is there another option?
I’m sure this won’t come across well but I have to say it… my husband and I make good money (about $600k combined) and are grateful for it but these Biden tax increases are going to kill us. The truly rich don’t get hit hard meanwhile it sucks to be an upper middle class family. No matter how much I make somehow my take home seems to keep going down.
🐠 fam, are there any resources for people who have lost their income, therefore losing health insurance but need meds? Contd’
Ad agency designer desperately looking for an out but I have a possible new job opportunity. Here is my dilemma: Pros.... more money, no crazy client demands, pitches or decks or even prospective clients that will go nowhere (in-house), better benefits Cons.... this is a big one - it’s healthcare I’ve been at agencies with a range of clients for the past few years. Career suicide taking an in-house healthcare job? Especially if role focuses more on growth & performance over design?
Having an off day already and wondering how so many people seem to be able to keep it all together so easily. I have friends and family that just handle everything with such grace and never seem to drop the ball or have to scramble to find time or energy to put into all of their priorities/obligations. Why is it so hard for me to even remember to schedule regular maintenance things for house/car/health, etc.? Maybe this career is just draining my cognitive capacity. I'm so tired.
Me: Your daughter can wait here in the lobby while we do a quick health history, then we'll bring her back to your room. Patient: that's not my daughter, that's my wife
Anyone here have experience boomeranging back to their original b4 firm within a year of leaving for a diff b4? Does this look bad on a resume?
Anyone in San Jose, CA want to get happy hour post work today? Just looking to chill as I’m here for a short vacay. F27
If you are thinking about going to the client site or the office tomorrow think to yourself, Am I saving lives? If the answer is NO then WFH!
Best way to decline moving forward with the interview process for no other reason than you just don’t wanna? Just saying “I’m no longer interested” to the recruiter after having the recruiter call seems a bit harsh, no?
My partner, who’s a med-school student (M1), literally walked into our home office, looked at the slides I’ve been working on for the last week, laughed, and goes “really impacting the world with those coloured boxes that haven’t changed since last week” and walked away😓
Y'all if you live by an airport and you are a "travel" consultant (not one who works out of the office or works on local projects all the time) it is not difficult to change offices.
Does anyone bring up unvested RSUs during comp conversations for new roles? How much success has that had? I feel like the golden handcuffs are too strong otherwise.
What does Uber exit opps pay? Ops manager? A Lot of info out there on tech roles but not sure for consultants
Got an opportunity at Deloitte Consulting for SC. BP =125k w/5k sign on bonus. Thoughts?
The federal stance is shifting regarding the reopening...”He [President Trump] demanded that all of the nation’s schools reopen for the fall semester — until, suddenly, he allowed for some wiggle room.” The Washington Post https://www.washingtonpost.com/politics/trumps-week-of-retreat-the-president-reverses-course-as-the-coronavirus-surges-out-of-control/2020/07/24/bf680c2c-cdc2-11ea-91f1-28aca4d833a0_story.html
For a strategy-esque (non-PM) career trajectory in FAANG/tech, what’s the comp trajectory look like? Can one ever reach MBB partner-like comp? MBB’s pay trajectory is too good to leave, but maybe I’m being naive
Any AWS fishies about? Curious about your ops teams. Are you wfh for the foreseeable future or back in the office already?
What would you do: in discussion with a small agency to potentially work full time. They wanted to do a 60 day engagement first to see if its a good fit. Kick the tires from both parties makes sense. They asked for my rates and gave them an hourly freelance rate to where they asked if I’d be willing to do a rate that was based off my “future” un-guaranteed employment salary, less than $100/hr, which was less than half my freelance rate. Does this sound fishy? Am I wrong to be skeptical?
Asking for my spouse. She is five months pregnant and has a amazon offer. She works for Deloitte too. Deloitte definitely has a better maternity leave but amazon is doubling her take home salary. Also agreed to work from home for two years. Thoughts? Stress wise her Deloitte practice ( strategy) is probably as stressful or more as compared to amazon role so it literally boils down to maternity benefits for us.
Starting application process to FAANG and other tech firms. For those who have recruited, what’s the end-to-end timeframe? Trying to see when to start the process if my goal is to leave by end of October. I also will be able to get referrals from google, fb, and amazon, not sure if that speeds up the process . Thank you
I just started at a new job and noticed that whenever I go to start work, my blood pressure spikes (from 120/80 to 150/110) along with my pulse (from 80 to 110). I like what I do but it’s hard to ignore the affect on my health. What should I do, aside from meditation and deep breathing (which I’m doing)?
