I have a manager that does not seem to understand mental illnesses, disorders, etc. He thinks I am making excuses rather than trying to explain things (I have diagnosed ADHD, anxiety, and depression) and I’m trying to take ownership for issues but also help him understand what I am describing better as well. We are sitting down for a conversation later this week. Any advice on how to gently educate or help with his understanding of neurodivergence and other mental health considerations?

You can literally wear whatever you want in Brooklyn
Literally why I moved to Brooklyn
Yes you do aha! I suggest crop top and skirt or dress for summer & crop top and jeans or leather pants for winter. I suggest you buy going out clothes from Zara, princess polly, aritzia, revolve, Abercrombie, lulus, thrift stores, HM for more affordable options etc or designer if you can buy that . These are stores where a lot of my friends buy going out clothes from!
Instead it back pack, I suggest crossbody bags as well
Seems about right. That’s the recent grad uniform.
Nyc is always overdressed as compared to any other cities I have been.
But def focus on comfort
Day - cotton, linen dresses and shoes
Night - anything over dressed (relatively) or jeans cropped (bralettes) and accessories
I’m confused bc I might be doing Nyc wrong but I don’t dress cute almost ever and have never gotten turned away from just a bar — club might be a different story but who is going clubbing straight after work?

Depends the bar
Yes. Gucci, Dior, Chanel, take your pick.
I’m a male but since I moved to SF I have a whole wardrobe of decent clothes I no longer get to wear out
It’s the dirtiest city in the world wear a space suit
Depends on the bar/lounge for sure. Fitted jeans (no holes), flats/booties/pumps and sweaters or a dress shirt gets you in most places. Swap backpack for crossbody or leather tote. Instead of a dress shirt, I find a bodysuit/nice top with blazer goes far, transforming your day to night look.
Why on earth would you leave the west coast?
Yikes

Don’t overthink this.

Wear high heels, always say yes

You’ll stand out if you dress like that. New Yorkers in general dress to impress and are much more cosmopolitan. It’s a totally different culture from the west coast.
Going out out? Can’t go wrong with a LBD
After work happy hour? Biz casual or smart casual. Summer skews more casual
That being said you can still get into bars with jeans/sweater/sneakers but may not fly at a rooftop or similarly nice bar / restaurant
After work that’s fine!!!
Totally depends where you go/day of the week/etc. I’m usually in jeans and a cute top 🤷🏻♀️
Chief
I almost got turned away from a rooftop bar for ripped jeans lol
Don’t overthink it. Wear whatever makes you feel comfortable!
I went to Dumbo house the other night and everyone was in sneakers
White sneakers.
