Moving to Cleveland next month from Columbus for my next role from consulting to the industry. Any thoughts on Cleveland as a city to raise a family and live long term?

Great city. Lots of great suburbs. Revitalized downtown. Decent airport. Some really good schools. It’s legit. Would recommend.

As someone who really loved cbus, I do think it’s different but also a very cool place. Lots of very cool historic neighborhoods that have been revitalized. Have several friends who made the move from cbus to CLE and really fell in love w it.

Grew up in Cleveland and we called it the “mistake by the lake” and life was boring af but I hear things took off for the better when lebron came back. It was not very diverse so I’d never raise my kids in such a homogenous place-I want them to grow up around other different people from different cultures and backgrounds.

Love Cleveland. Would move back in a heartbeat.

The suburbs are a much better option for living long term and for good schooling. Live there and travel into the city for work and the entertainment it offers. Although the city is being revitalized, it still has a long way to go.

Hudson has some of the best public schools in the country and Western Reserve Academy is right there too, in case you’d like to go private. Love the restaurant Aladdin’s in downtown Hudson. Excellent Medeterrean food has great prices. Good luck!

Lots of fun suburbs with great public schools as others have mentioned. Off the top of my head: Hudson, Solon, Shaker, and then some Westside towns as well (Rocky River, Avon Lake, etc). Otherwise, great private schools with varying price tags. Loved my time there --will likely move back longterm

One thing I struggle to remind myself of is you can only lose so much from a bad investment but gains from a good investment are (sorta) unlimited. If your starting position is $10,000 and the value halves, you're down $5,000. But if the value of a separate position doubles, you're now up a total of $5,000. I think learning this will help me reach my FIRE goals by eliminating a lot of emotion and impulse in my investment decisions. What other "life lessons" do any of you have?

Sat on the bench for my first 4 months and then they put me on a staff aug project...I feel like I made the wrong decision. (Cont)

Hi Fishes, Need some inputs Thanks in advance. In the lead-up to my promotion I was working hard and confidently, feeling ready for and entitled to the next rank. Now that I got it, I feel myself all of a sudden feeling more timid with impostor syndrome kicking in - now that I’ve been promoted it feels like everyone’s watching to see if it was “the right call”, to see if I measure up. Anyone else feel this way? How do you cope?

I was so good and confident when I was interviewing with consulting firms. Now that I am here for something close to two months, I am really struggling. Struggling to piece together coherent questions and thoughts. Struggling to speak up. Team structure is weird - no one has the bandwidth to address dumb questions, feel like I’m lost without good guidance. Overall this is not good for anyone wanting to be successful in consulting. Any thoughts or advice? Is this the initial phase, gets better?
