Why East LA? West LA all the way
West LA or Brentwood. Tons of college or recent grads.
Depends if you’re going to be traveling a lot.. in which case you want to live closer to the westside which has easier accessibility to LAX. Hip kids who want the scene go to Santa Monica or Venice.
Dude. Assuming you are going to commit to work do factor in your daily commute too
South Bay.. beach towns and not super far from lax
Silverlake, Los Feliz and Echo Park are awesome

I’d ideally like to be near water and not much of a drinker/partier. I like Santa Monica but it’s so touristy I’m not too sure if I’d like to live there...
Not all of SM is touristy. The farther you get from the 3rd street promenade, the fewer tourists you’ll find. I’m in West LA near the border of Brentwood and SM and I love it
West LA, Santa Monica, Culver City
WeHo.
Really depends if you go to the office often enough. Anywhere in LA is fair game if you travel m-thu. If you have to be in the office m-thu downtown LA or anywhere near the train lines are good options. I transferred from NY a year ago.
Sure, to each their own. I suppose we all have our reality. I’d be fine with 1 or 1.5 hour + on Thursdays if I lived in my dream neighborhood. Doing that twice a week wouldn’t bother me. However I wouldn’t be happy doing that commute every day to head to and from the office. That’s non negotiable for me.
