Hello fishes🐠. Can anybody guide me on the dress code followed in the BlackRock London office? Will be joining soon and want to ensure I dress appropriately (My current workplace is very casual, people wear jeans and sneakers). For context, a woman joining in a role that is not client facing, not portfolio manager. Thanks in advance.

Best paid jobs in london?
Hi, I have been approached by GLG (Gerson Lehrman Group) for network expertise paid consultation. Wanted to check with this group if anyone has any experience of how is it like working as network expert? Also how does it work wrt to your employer, do you need to discuss this with employer to get any clearance to engage with them? Also how does it work from tax perspective, do you have to set-up separate company and hence tax code? Would appreciate inputs.
Hi, I was told today that I had passed all the rounds of interview for a Senior Consultant role at Deloitte and that they would love for me to join their team but they can’t give an offer at the moment because senior leadership need to take stock/look at data points/measure how successful programmes are so far, only when that is finished I will ‘very likely’ get an offer but it could be days/weeks/months. Has anyone else been told this or know what this means?
Don’t buy lot of woollen from india. It won’t be helpful. Just a few warmers and inner wear to support. Best to go to uniqlo or marks and spencer and get their jackets to start. Rest u can buy from uk.
If you want to go a bit nicer - Reiss has some lovely coats
IMO, Thermals aren’t really necessary.. if you are in south UK e.g. London you might be ok with what you’d normally wear , like jeans and a T-shirt with shoes. What would truly help is warmer socks with shoes, a good jacket, a scarf or neck warmer and gloves.. and highly recommend buying all of this in UK. Perhaps you can pre order online and have it delivered the day you arrive at your accommodation?
You’ll end up investing in a couple of good jackets anyway overtime when you get here (eg. you could need different ones for autumn, dry winter and rainy winter) but that should be based on trying in person so I’d suggest for now you can stick to something reliable and affordable if you are to order online for your first buy (Next, M&S etc should do). In person, I will recommend checking out TK Maxx too.. sometimes they have good jackets for a affordable price.
Go to Uniqlo for basics, get a decent coat, and don't don't get leather soled shoes.
If you want something fancy, take a day trip to Bicester Village ( outlet shops for nice brands)
I would suggest The North Face. Great quality coats and fantastic at keeping you warm!
I would get a few thermals (short sleeve, long sleeve tops and leggings) from Uniqlo, and a windproof / waterproof jacket from Uniqlo or Northface.
I would suggest warm clothes rather than immediate clothes.
I moved to the UK from an east asian country. Could not stand the cold in the beginning.
Uniqlo thermals changed my whole entire life. Get the bottoms and tops, and wear as an under layer when it gets cold. They also have these super thick super power thermals (sorry not actually sure what the name is), but they’re meant for like under 20 degree weather, sometimes I just wear that one layer when it’s maybe 4 degrees out in the UK under a thin jacket and im completely fine.
The areas of your body that lose most heat are: hands, feet, neck, head. So keep those areas covered and you’ll be golden!

I love how everyone here suggested Uniqlo. They’re amazing for good quality basics I probably own half the store!
