For $3500 you can get reasonably luxurious apartments, just not the top ones. Start with looking into ones managed by Stonehenge or TFcornerstone. I lived in one of the TFC buildings, they are one of the best rentals in NYC.

Try this building: 606 West 42nd Street. Reasonable price with decent building amenities
Plenty of options. Try streeteasy.com

I live in midtown (Bryant Park area) in a 1BR and the rent is $3,800/mo.
Try one manhattan square. Cheapest luxury building you'll find in manhattan for the spec, given the location.
Thanks A2. Looks like One Manhattan’s cheapest rental is $4700/mo which is a bit out of budget for me. Hoping to stay under $4000, ideally closer to $3500/mo if possible
There were a handful within your budget, but must have gone in the past 2 months since I stopped looking.
They were on the lower floors and faced North (primarily a flat view until you get to midtown). South facing apts in that building have a gorgeous view, but come at a premium.
