MS degree, 4YOE, currently working at a boutique life science consulting in NYC, ~132k TC, managing 10 people across 3 clients.
Client offered TC ~220k (170k base) with travel comp for a SM job, top 40 biotech by market cap.

Pros - 0 transition (same work/team), wlb, TC, no relocation, have an advocate
Cons - wanted AD but offered SM, less exposure to different work, more personal effort to keep up w industry knowledge and new tools

Worth the jump? Any thoughts/comments are appreciated!

I mean... unless you really want to be a consulting partner, seems like a no brainer. It’s like an 80% comp boost. You can always change your mind after a year or two if you don’t like industry and go back to consulting at a higher title.

Don’t worry about SM vs AD. Not a big deal & title will come.

Not sure what the debate is. Great opportunity, especially given you have ms, not MBA

90k more! Do it

I had the same thing just happen to me. Was going for AD role but they ended up offering me SM. The comp bump was enough that I took it regardless

like

Do it!

Trinity? You can get AD if you leave at AP level for sure if not D

Is it me or does ~$130k TC seem offley low for 4 YOE and managing 10 people across 3 projects.

The huge comp increase is a no brainer imo

I am coming up on my one year review at my company where I had started last Nov. I am 30 years old and have about 12 years of work experience. I also have an MBA and make $60k per year. I spoke with a company regarding employment opportunities and they said that I am extremely underpaid by about $15k. I also have listened to my coworkers stating that their salary of $70k is too low, when they are a) 5-6 years younger than me and b) this is their first job. How do I negotiate for an increase?

Client-side BD&L is pretty hot for young consultants looking to chart out a career and move to industry. However, it seems that most BD&L roles go to high-level MBAs or true ex-finance people.
(1) is BD&L really *that* great? Obviously the prospect of scoping deals sounds cool but also complex, labor-intensive, and highly political - true?
(2) what are the long term prospects after a BD&L role? As many people have noted, the path to C-suite goes through P&L roles - So...what would comes next?
