Looking for unbiased advice from Big 4 partners. As an experienced SM at EY in the pipeline for partner in two years, would I be better off jumping ship to another Big 4 now (delaying the promotion for at least a year or two in the process), targeting a direct admit role at a mid tier firm or staying put knowing I won’t make nearly as much as a MD in NewCo. I’ve talked to several partners and none of have been able to articulate how us heavy SMs aren’t getting screwed over.

Pregnant with my 1st, and a very career oriented gal, but will have no family nearby ever. With Biden's new tax policies my salary is what puts us over the $400k line, as Hubby's is the better job with better benefits and stuff. Wondering if I should just stay home for a bit, enjoy my baby and my tax incentives for the next few years. I will someday soon try for a 2nd baby as well.

Be thankful. I know we do a lot of bashing here (rightfully so, plus it can be fun!). But I always think about this crap agency I almost worked at when I was a junior and desperate to leave where I was at. everyday I'm happy I chose not to work there. Every place has its own issues, but you could be writing/designing coupons for furnace inspections and making 40k.
