My 1st year review is coming up and I am not sure how much to ask for or if I should. I was recruited to come work here and was given a decent pay increase to do so. I have worked in my industry for 16yrs prior to coming over, however not in my role. I was asked to be an office manager coming from an administrative assistant role. Is asking for a 10% raise too much with only a year under my belt?

You should do this prior to your review. By the time you have that conversation raises have usually been decided. Schedule a separate meeting with your manager to set expectations and bring all the reasons you deserve a raise. You’ll need something concrete to present like working above your assigned responsibilities, market rate salaries for similar positions being higher etc. Generally standard yearly raises without promotions are only 3% or so.

Is it the smart move to take a pay cut and clerk for a judge?

Little context: I was an ED student, full time paralegal/clerk throughout my law school experience, and a single mother. I did not take advantage of the law school extracurriculars and missed out on clerk application deadlines my final year (2020). Would it benefit me to take a pay cut as a transactional clerk by about $20k to work as a clerk for a year then re-enter firm life? I’m transactional and enjoy that line of work.

Any wholesale property marketing brokers here? I’ve been feeling kind of overworked & kind of exploited lately… mostly due to my people pleasing personality and not being able to say no. I am working on at least 10-20 new business accounts and another 10-20 renewals each month. Revenue on the renewals alone are around $100-200k per month. On top of marketing, I also have to service a few larger accounts that are difficult. My salary is in the $70k range and I feel it’s a bit on the low end…

So I recently started a position with Fox. When it was presented to me in interview, I was told I would be working aligned with Fox Sports & Entertainment, not so much News. Now that I’m here, I’m seeing everything I’ll be doing is with the News team & makes me uncomfortable. No diversity, outdated software & process.
Financially, it’s the best position I been in. But mentally in this environment, it’s depressing & slow. Nothing innovative or engaging. What would you do?

Hi, I'm an artist with 5 years of experience in the game developmentindustry.

After interview sessions, it comes to salary negotiation. To my surprise, the salary offer is below industry average, even more like junior-level salary.

Though my experience includes team leadership and I have described in detail how I could contribute to the company, the interviewer raised the offer, adding $300 only, still in junior salary range.

What does it really mean, and how do I win the negotiation?

TIA.
