My 2 year old is a sensitive little guy and often cries at daycare drop off. Today, as I turned to leave, I saw his little face crying “mama” through the door of his classroom 😭 now I’m sobbing too...

I’m sorry! That’s the worst feeling, letting your kids down. I have a sensitive toddler and going to work was very difficult. It’s gotten better at 3.5. But I still take days off just to have special time.

hazard. Used to cry everyday, I could hear him wailing from outside the building. What helped was going to the coffee shop across the street and asking other parents that dropped off in his class if he was still crying. They always said no. Also, today, after many years, he told me 'you leave now mommy's 😊

My son was like this. We ended up going with a nanny - he just wasn’t ready for the noise and chaos of preschool as a sensitive little boy. He’s thriving by being at home and going out for activities. Am just sucking up the expense and at 3 will send him back to preschool part time.

Makes it so hard to leave/not feel guilt as a working mom. Anyone else have experience with this? Guilt is such a big hurdle for me to continue in this job. Sigh.

This is totally normal! He’ll grow out of it I think if you are otherwise happy with the daycare just make a clean quick break at dropoff and the teachers will immediately distract and he’ll be ok. Give yourself some grace mama!

Does your daycare have cameras? I used to watch mine for a few minutes on my way. Or I would call once I got to work. Once I found he would stop crying before I had even left the building I would feel a lot better. Enjoy the pick-up - those days of smiles and run/crawls to you are precious.

My little guy doesn't cry but whenever I ask him if he wants to go to school, the answer is ALWAYS "no". He's also darting out the door as soon as I get there in the afternoon. 😕. We're switching to a nursery School in two weeks, hoping that's a better fit.
