My sister used colored bath water with her kid and it changed the behavior right around. The child was able to select the color giving a sense of control and then it was funky and new which made it fun

I don't know if these were exactly the ones but it's apparently a popular thing these days and my pasty niece did not change shades after lol
We've had that at various times with our kids. Hair washing in particular is a huge battle. I've offered to just wash them in the sink, where they can stand up or sit down while I scrub them, and that's sometimes been better. You could also try getting a bath toy. Kids are weird.
Mine goes through phases. For a while he loved baths, then hated them, then couldn’t decide so he’d cry when you put him in, then laugh hysterically in the bath, then cry when he had to get out. 🤷🏻♀️
It happened to mine. In our case I think it was linked to water temperature - water was warmer than usual, and it caused a problem with bathing for a long time afterwards. Control is key: let them fill own bath, choose the temp, choose the bath toys, bubbles etc. We also switched to showers for a bit, he then asked for a bath himself
If it’s cold where you live, it could also be dry skin. My daughter gets dry patches and the water stings. I have to put a lot of lotion on her in the winter.
