In my experience, kids go through periods where they just need us more and if holding your sons hand provides him comfort, I say go for it! If you are worried about it becoming too much of a habit, try cutting down the time a little each night so you aren’t just stopping abruptly. Or try holding his hand (or other comforts) outside of bed, so it’s still part of the routine but not part of falling asleep every night.
But really, savor these moments! They go by so fast.

Aw, that’s sweet. I think there are good ways to break the habit gently. Like, I’ll hold your hand while I sing a song, and then I’ll let go and sing another song, OK? Or, I’m going to hold your hand for a minute and then Teddy Bear wants to hold your hand.
No I wouldn't worry about it!
Thank you all! I happily held is little baby hands tonight through the crib. Soaking it up. Thank you Mamas!
