My agency was acquired by Publicis group - any advice?

It take a few years to see the effect. Nothing will happen immediately. But over time, they force processes and procedures to make you better integrate with the wider groupe. And in doing so, they remove your uniqueness, change your culture, and force out people that are different - killing the things that made you worth buying in the first place. I wouldn’t panic. But I would probably update your CV and start a few informal chats with recruiters.

Makes sense! We’re also pretty large, if anyone is curious I’m referring to the Epsilon acquisition that closed last week. The only thing that has changed so far is our pay cycle

I AM ON THE INSIDE. SAVE YOURSELF, RUN FOR YOUR LIFE Actually, from previous experience, I worked at a highly respected, small but well awarded shop. Owner sold out to Publicis a few years ago, and nobody has had book-worthy work made since. We went from award-winning print ads and experiential campaigns to social posts and web design

P1 sounds about right from my experience as well

Once was great. Until it wasn't. You won't see impact for up to a year. Plenty of time to find a new job.

Say hello to uninspired work, pitching business nobody wants, non existent review cycles, and HR that will happily fire you to protect their bottom line.

Oh, and likely a CCO who wants you to win Lions on direct mail and sees every b to b RFP as an “opportunity” to steal the “juicy” part of the business.

Publicis senior leadership is full of snakes, and secrecy, even when you ask these questions directly and they know the answers. If you’re concerned about your job stability, your hunch is probably right. I’d start looking NOW, so you have a head start and options. Put yourself first, because they will.

Hope you’re making good money because you’ll never get another raise while working there. I left for WPP and I’d need publicis to offer me $150k - $200k over the market value of any position to go back. Because once you’re in, you’re exactly where you’re at. If ground hogs day was a company, it’s publicis.

Differing opinion here. Small shop of ~120 people acquired by Publicis. Over the last 4 years (after I left) the agency has had their biggest client, it's biggest budgets, it's best office, and it's most awards. I couldn't help but wonder: why didn't we get this before? My conclusion was that the big blue Chip clients would've never hired a small agency to do AOR level work. The culture is a shadow of itself but not completely lost. Mostly because the original leadership is more or less still there. It isn't what it used to be, but it isn't quite the horror story everyone is making acquisition out to be.
