Can you just take off one side and put one of those bumpers under the sheet (people put pool noodles on the open end but they have actual bumpers. That’s all the conversion does at this stage you take one side off and putt a middle rail. To be honest if he likes it though just let him be till everyone’s ready to potty train at night. Everyone always says to just start underwear at night and not get into the habit of nighttime diapers if you’re really ready to train. You layer the bed with a bedsheet, puppy pad, another sheet… so for accidents at night you just change him, take off the sheet and pad and go back to sleep without worrying about putting on a new sheet. You can do more layers.
My son is almost 3. Loves his crib and never tries to get out. He wears a diaper at night and is completely potty trained during the day. I have no intention on getting him out of the crib. We rushed to get my daughter into a big girl bed at 2 and she was constantly getting out of bed in the middle of the night. I would keep my son in his crib until college if I could! 😉
Same
My kids wore pull ups until they were 5 or so. This is no big deal at all and pretty normal. I’d say you are overthinking this. Separate the crib issue from the peeing issue.
Clarifying this….my kids wore pull ups “at night” - not during the day. Dry in the day at around 3. Night took significantly longer
I potty trained in cribs, my daughter would call nightly to go potty; my son had his share of nighttime accidents and i agree the layered sheets approach is key.
If wetting at night and dry all day, check for allergies. When mine gets symptoms they wet, even though they are now in high school.
Oh hell yeah.
Also potty trained while in crib. Older daughter would call out, younger doesn’t really go in her sleep
My kid loved his crib and we kept him in it until he was 4.5. We potty trained at 3 and he just never peed at night.
Rising Star
When we first potty trained my toddler she was still in a crib. At first she would cry in the middle of the night to getup and use the potty which candidly was kind of annoying cause we didn’t want to be woken up at night. Then she got used to going in her pull-up. We left her in the crib until past 3, when we took one side off (it is convertible). The pediatrician had told us that if she seemed happy in the crib we should leave her in there because it’s safer
