I can relate entirely. To this entire post. I don’t feel like I’m giving enough to any part of my life. Work. My kids. My husband. Like none of those areas are getting my best self. And that makes me more anxious!

Therapy is great! Especially when you stick with it. Also - read some of Brene Brown's work. Gifts of imperfection brought me a lot of peace.

Try saying affirmations. I know it sounds silly, but sometimes you need to look yourself in the mirror and tell yourself you’re pretty amazing and doing the best you can. When you begin to tell yourself the things it needs to hear, some of the stress starts to naturally subside. Hang in there.

I feel like so many in this industry need people to talk to. Therapists or mentors. I’m tying to get a mentorship program off the ground as a way to help so many women in our business. Here too! I'm the one that posted a few weeks ago asking how many people in this industry were in therapy. I'm feeling the same exact way. Part of it is perfectionism part of it is just flat-out overwhelmed with personal and professional issues.

I went to my doctor, she knows that I don't really do prescriptions, so she recommended talk therapy, magnesium, and a probiotic to cut down on the acid and crazy dreams the stress is giving me. She told me she'd give me an anti-anxiety medicine for six months until the therapy started to kick in, but I have so far refused.

Good luck to us all in finding our paths to a better way!

Look into magnesium. Most women are depleted
and studies show a magnesium deficiency contributes to a host of mental health problems including anxiety. A great product is ‘Calm’. Mix a half tablespoon with water to start & drink every day. Made a huge difference for me. Also take a good B vitamin supplement. Hope it helps!

Same here! I see a therapist every other week (used to be weekly when it was really bad at first). Helped so much. One thing I do is write down my cognitive distortions: those “bad thoughts” and misconceptions my brain loves about why a minor hiccup means I’m a failure. Then I take a step back and try to look at the moment objectively, if it happened to someone else, what could be another interpretation? Does it really mean they would be a failure? It’s a tiny helpful exercise just to give me some perspective in the moment and then I can talk it out if it’s still on my mind by my appointment time. My sessions cost about $70 per hour with my current health insurance plan. That peace of mind is priceless!

I’m feeling very neurotic about my third interview and need advice:

I was asked to pick a time yesterday, did for the Monday morning slot, and was told it would be added to the calendar. I reached out today asking for any details about what I should have prepared for the call like I did for the second. Any tips on dealing with male colleagues who dominate meetings?
