No, don’t say anything. If they bark constantly or there is an odor due to neglect or whatever else, then be an adult and have a conversation with your neighbor. If it persists and you can’t live with it, then sure report it. If the dogs are aggressive and set loose or whatever, then sure report it. Otherwise, let people be.
And yes, I have a pittie rescue and those restrictions are BS. Plenty of little dogs bark all day when left alone and my quiet sweet pittie is the one targeted?

100% right, A17! The point is that dogs are animals and we should have policies in place to protect all of us and our pets from danger and to ensure responsible pet ownership. My position is that breed bans are both overly expansive and inadequate to ensure safety when many other breeds can be dangerous (not just talking about chihuahuas), but enjoy the snark!

There are no bad dogs, only bad owners. If the owner is doing report-worthy things (i.e. doesn’t clean up after the dogs, let them bark 24/7, etc), then report it. If not, as the other posters said, let the dogs be.
Pitties are sweethearts, please give them a chance:)

I’ve been to three vets over the last decade and each of them have owned and loved pitties. And these are top rated vets in Manhattan. Plenty of good, responsible people have pitbulls. The argument boils down to “there doesn’t exist a single pitbull of the 18 million that can be a great pet and all of them should be dead” vs. “of the 18 million pitbulls out there, 99%+ are good pets and we should discuss policies to prevent abuse and neglect of pitties and ensure the 0.0001% [actual data] of them that have aggressive behavior aren’t allowed to cause harm (which unfortunately in many instances does require euthanization).”
All of you assholes who are hating pitbulls suck.

A16 - I believe A31 is talking about presa canarios in response to one of my comments above. Look those up and you’ll get what they are referring to.
Hmm idk this is tough, I’m not gonna lie. I used to be a “don’t bully my breed” type of person, but then me and my dog almost got attacked by a pit Bull and I learned that pit bulls are responsible for 70+% of all dog injuries in the country. Pit bulls are dangerous, and I wouldn’t feel comfortable walking my dog in the same area as a pit Bull, ESPECIALLY if they are not neutered/spayed as all dogs are more aggressive unneutered/spayed.
BUT, I also am a live and let live kind of person. I’d probably give it a few weeks to gauge the vibes, and if you see the pit bulls around a lot, I’d probs end up reporting.
To answer OPs above question: maybe because he loves his dog? That could be a good reason to have a dog. Maybe because they need to live in a shared living space? And they are clearly a responsible dog owner and others around him understand the situation and like their Pittie. It’s pretty clear. When I was living in an apartment I was always very cautious with my pittie in the sense that I was always understanding if someone asked is he friendly (which he very much was with all dogs). However, to your points, some dog owners are not great. And that’s a fair concern to have especially with big breeds and people you don’t know. I’m not trying to criticize or insult I’m just trying to say I understand everyone’s feelings here but asking someone “why do you have a dog if other dogs can’t be near it” is a weird question to me.

I’m tall, big, and a little jacked, and I have a beard. I hope no one reports me for being scary.

What is “little jacked”? Do you even lift bro?

Unless you have some sort of evidence he his hurting the dogs or using the dogs to hurt someone else, my approach would be to stay out of people's business.
There is no age limit on neutering and spaying
Right I was saying they are old enough to be spayed/neutered. I.e. not 8 week puppies.

I would report it. Rules are there for a reason.
Obey obey obey

Or they could have been adopted as a bonded pair? And even if breeding, what’s the issue unless you have a hunch he’s doing something inappropriate with them.
Is your only reason for reporting because building doesn’t allow it? If so, I wouldn’t do it. I have a pittie / black lab mix who is the biggest sweetheart. These dogs get an unfortunately bad rep but there are so many of them in shelters looking for homes.
You said pit bulls are banned but then said he got American bully’s which is not the same dog so…
Ok explain to us what an American bully is then. Because everywhere I look says it is part pitbull. But you’re the expert so why don’t you explain.
ESA dogs are not subject to breed restrictions.

Do not go on Reddit or tik tok and watch the horrific video of a pit bull mauling off a golden retriever’s leg while a crowd of people helplessly watch…it was literally traumatizing to see and I’m now staunchly anti pit bulls…there’s a ton of lobbying by pro pit groups trying to pass them off as nanny dogs and calling the puppies “silver labradors” to trick people. You could walk outside your front door and if you spook the pit if it’s in the hallway it’ll maul your face without a second thought
Coach
Exactly. And maybe it is bad owners for a large part of aggressive pit bulls, but it just so happens that bad owners seem to gravitate towards that breed.
Reporting based on the “rules” sounds unnecessary. It’s better to wait an assess. I have a big dog and plenty of people have dogs (including the restricted breeds) in my lux apt. I’ve only reported one dog owner—she brought her dog to the gym off leash and would routinely allow the untrained dog off leash in the apt—if the American bullies are doing ish like this then report. Otherwise mind your business ✌🏾
I would report.
Coach
Report report report!
Pitties get a bad rep because they’ve been historically trained to be aggressive, but in actuality, they are such sweethearts. They’re not inherently more vicious than other dogs, they just might come off as vicious because of the way they look. If the owner isn’t picking up after their dog or causing a lot of disruption, then I would report, but if not, then let them be.

Partner 1 shares crime statistics in r/gaming in his free time and claims it's a "joke" first and then "just statistics" when he is called out. I just know it.
I bet some people factor the breed ban into their choice of where to live and how much they pay for their apartment. Because some people have little dogs or little children that they need to keep safe.
Anyone who says pit bulls are sweeties has never seen the face of a 14 year old girl torn up by one, unprovoked. This was a dog described by all as a lovely dog before he disfigured her. Pit bulls are typically excluded in most homeowner policies for a reason. I imagine thats why the building owner prohibits them. Here you have a lease violation and you are justified putting the owner of the building on notice. Imagine the dog causes an injury and every insurance coverage available excludes the injury due to the fact that the dog is excluded under the policy. Are all of you folks going to pay for the reconstructive surgeries my lovely 14 year old client needs? Should I start a gofundme page?
If you want to adopt a pit mix meet the dog first, ask people who have experience with it about its temperament. It is very dog specific. I have seen some that are high energy and unpredictable, but I have also seen my dog which is extremely low energy, extremely non aggressive. For example, the doggie day care recommended he be placed in one on one play time because they thought he would be happier there, as in group play the other dogs “saw him as a target” and were humping him all day…
Yeah maybe I’m jumping to a bunch of conclusions but also just concerned for safety of my smaller dog. Idk 🤷♀️ These dogs are jacked so maybe it’s the appearance that’s making me nervous and they will actually be fine

OP - you are 100% justified to worry about your little dog. You gain nothing being naive and overly trusting of these pits the way so many other people in this thread are acting... Report the dogs and in the mean time buy a coyote vest for your little doggy if you haven’t gotten one yet - give it a layer of protection in case the worst encounter happens between you and your neighbor’s dogs
