Dump it into low risk dividend stocks. That should minimize downside while making the money last a bit longer
Where I am from CD pays 5-7% interest per annum. Interest alone should be more than enough to cover living expenses (assuming house is paid off, no debt and no lavish lifestyle).
CDs are < 1% in US currently. Seems pennies really.
Her pension is paid out as a lump sum in her country which is included in the 300k she now has. We worked out that it would last her about 15 years (not including health costs) as she lives in a low living cost country. However she’s rightly enough worried that this won’t be enough. Any advice how to invest given she’s already at retirement would be much appreciated! She was thinking to start a company or something that she could work at but I feel like investing in the stock market would be better.
Yes.
If you die the annuity stops paying out, even if the recipient has received less than the original purchase value. On the flip side of they live longer than expected they receive more. It's more of an insurance product than anything.
The point is to remove the risk of running out of money in retirement.
