I try and give my students as many recourses as possible in case they can't come to class. Roomrecess.com, arts and craft ideas, youtube videos, worksheets if they have printers at home. All we can do is reinforce how important a consistent schedule is and reach out as much as we can to keep the kids on that schedule.

Visual schedules and constantly telling them what is coming next.
Forecasting. Communication with parents so they can also forecast. Letting students know it is hard for me, too.
I have develop a individual picture schedule for each student that assist with instructional delivery. The student’s are able to have a visual picture of what comes next that using the picture schedule.
I teach students in the adaptive/functional curriculum and I changed my class schedule times. We break after the late bell and my students come right to my classroom in the mornings. We even eat lunch at a different location to help my autistic students and anxiety students.
I have only one student. He accepts fist bumps as payment for being stressed out, but sometimes still rips off all his clothes, destroys me room, and tries to kick my butt. Visual schedules and social stories are helpful, especially when delivered early in the day while eating a treat.
We go over the monthly calendar every morning. I tell them about any news from the district from yesterday, and we go over routines of things that can possibly happen.
Before Covid it was random searches of a whole class by school police. My school and room number can be kicked out of a random generator and my students subject to pay downs and their personal items searched. Thanks to reviewing it every day, they were not thrown when it happened to the room next to ours.
