If either has made any contact in 2 weeks then no need.

Whether you quarantine or not, just don’t see people unless you have told them this background and they still feel comfortable meeting you.

This, plus never a bad idea to just be cautious and do masked, socially distant meetups until the virus is under control. Even if you’re in the clear, who knows if your other friends have been exposed. My approach has been treat everyone outside the household as potentially positive because you never really know.

Rapid COVID tests are now widely available (for free in CityMD in NYC). Why wouldn’t you just take a test, if it’s negative no need to self isolate

like

The rapid tests they’re using at CityMD in New York are 90% accurate. I was told with no symptoms, no known direct exposure and a negative rapid test that you do not need to quarantine. They’ve evolved since rapid tests first came out

How were his parents infected? I only see friends outdoors, masked, and socially distanced. You may wish to lay low a few days just to be safe, as incubation can take a while. Or he might be positive and asymptomatic, as could you.

Need more clarity on the ~2 weeks, when he last saw them and when you last saw him

like

If he hasn’t seen them since the 6th of December I’d say you’re in the clear. I am very cautious with understanding that you can be infected and contagious for a few days prior to symptoms and testing positive, so would think like, okay, if they were potentially infected but not showing signs and he saw them, he could technically be infected but either not yet showing symptoms or be asymptomatic. But, it’s been over two weeks since he has seen them, I wouldn’t be concerned.

Covid takes 2-14 days to incubate. Considering he was exposed to them on the 6th, that means if he shows no symptoms by the 26th, then he’s in the clear. Considering they’ve shown symptoms in the past 2 days, that means they could have caught it anytime between the 8th to 20th, depending on how far along they’re in the incubation process. Either way, that’s after he visited them so he SHOULD be fine. However, no harm in taking extra precautions just to make sure and I’d get tested. At least in CA, they are now offering DIY kits to be sent to you if you have symptoms/have been exposed.

Hey everyone, so my sister and her boyfriend have both gained about 60-70 pounds since COVID started. I’m getting very concerned for them and I’ve seen firsthand how they’re developed awful eating and drinking habits and they hardly ever exercise. I’m very concerned for them, but I have no idea how to talk about it with them and not make them angry or hurt. Any advice on how to have this difficult conversation?

here's my prediction. If Biden wins, the media will begin to message the following; -The worst COVID risks and outcomes are to people with identifiable risk factors such as obesity and diabetes. -Most other people who catch it will experience a bad flu. -Many other people who catch it won't even know they have it. -It's not commonly transmitted by touching objects and person to person transmittal is low risk except in close contact. The media will then message that we should; (cont'd)

A friend of mine recently made an Instagram story with a list of conditions that are high risk with a follow-up of what additional conditions a high risk person could obtain if they catch covid. The final frame of this story "your Thanksgiving should be BORING!" So naturally I thought she was staying in town, which I then asked her. Hypocrite! She's driving to her SO family because "they've been really cautious and formed a POD". Uhhh what?! I'm no covid police, but if you're going to (cont.)

If your team is looking to add another analyst to “take on workload” but your own workload has been minimal, is this writing on the wall for you to find exit ops? Not comp related but a question on references: I’ve only had 2 direct managers, current one is nice but I can’t let him know I’m interviewing. Previous one was a bully and I made clear that I cut contact with him when I left (he later had to contact me for non-essential work related stuff but I declined to talk). I have other references I could use, but want to prep for situation when employers ask “why can’t we talk to your previous manager.” Thanks!

I graduated last year and was promised a full time salary of 60k (marketing). However, my start date was exactly when Covid hit hard and everyone froze their hiring process and took salary cuts, so my company cut my TC in half. I was loyal to my company and it didn’t hit hard until now. They’re starting to hire many more people in a diff department which makes me think they have the budget now. How should I start and navigate this conversation? Thanks in advance 🙏🏼 (Cross-posted)
