If you love him have that conversation, he shouldn’t feel ashamed because it would be noones business to know. Or maybe he can get you a starter ring for like 500 bucks and upgrade in the future

My friend’s husband proposed with just the wedding band and then they got the larger diamond later or you could buy it. Could be an option if his financial situation is temporary or he just has a lower income job.
Thank you everyone!
He’s in debt so it would presumably be several years before he can make that purchase. I’m okay with buying the diamonds, thanks for the suggestion.
There’s nothing wrong with how you’re approaching this. It’s b/w the two of you and honestly just talk to him. This is nothing to feel bad about.

If you want the diamond, buy it! I think it’s a good thing that your boyfriend is focused on resolving his debt rather than going further into debt to get a ring.
