Isn’t birth control free in the US?
Double check with your plan. Birth control is considered preventative care, and preventative care is supposed to be covered no cost to you under comprehensive health insurance plans. It's possible that they have brand restrictions though, so that might be it. You may have to reach out to a customer care team at your plan (they usually have more details than the frontline folks). They'll be able to tell you what's what!

Something similar happened to me and I just had to switch to the generic of the name brand.

Same! If you’re on a brand name and it starts costing you money, it means a generic has become available and your plan covers only the generic.

See if you picked it up too early - I have to pay out of pocket for mine if I pick it up too early. Alternatively if it's not generic, your insurance may not cover the brand.

Yeah happens to me when the plan renews. You have to pay until you reach your deductible, then it returns to the usual amount
