My boss and another colleague both ALWAYS cc themselves on every email—it’s clearly set up as an auto rule (ie it’s not just on “important” or “CYA” type emails). Why would one want to do this? Is it to do with how Outlook doesn’t move/copy your reply emails when you file away emails? Wouldn’t “conversation mode” help with that problem? Genuinely trying to understand this

hi fishes, I have joined Iti as a lateral.
After joining they have asked me to collect laptop from office. When i went, the laptop was not in a great condition and was refurbished. I am guessing it was used almost 3 to 4 years before me.

I asked them for a new laptop and they said they dont have new laptop in stock, i even checked with my manager she said she is also using refurbished laptop so no problem.
Anyone else faced this problem earlier?. If yes how did you act on it?

Co-Working Space Agreements - team is thinking about using some co-working space in a new market (similar to we work and Regus). Got the agreement today and it isn’t really a license, more like completely one sided terms and conditions not in our favor. No indemnification, insurance, etc. no guaranty of security or that no one else can access our private office (We aren’t looking for just a desk, but a private office suite). Has anyone had luck negotiating the terms of these agreements?

Do others feel lonely in their roles? I moved in-house from a firm a few months ago, and while I recognize that the virtual nature of the work is a huge factor (I haven’t yet met my coworkers, so it’s harder to make friends), I also am in a small legal department where everyone is far more senior than me, so I don’t have any camaraderie. I’m glad to not only be working with lawyers (like at my firm), but I do miss the ease of having peers with whom I could easily make friends and chat.

My company (a renewable energy developer) is being acquired by a much larger energy company in a platform deal. I'm currently part of a 3 person legal team, with each attorney supporting different parts of the business, and having different areas of expertise. Anyone have any insight into the impact/fallout of these types of deals on the acquired company's legal department? I'm being told everything will be the same (but with better benefits), but who knows!

I am starting a new role as an in-house attorney at a large university. Any tips on how to be successful?

Articling in big law and getting sworn in soon. Got an in house offer at a big company, which pays more than big law and someone says they’re willing to mentor me. Wondering if I should make the jump? How hard would it be to go back to a law firm if I regret it. What i will be doing is very specific but also many other companies and law firms look for that., even though companies seem to outsource it less and less.

I entered law school in my late 30's as a second career. I have strong pre-law experience (Executive of small company, 60 employees, $4m budget, MBA, etc.) and law school credentials (Top 10%, Managing Editor of Law Review). I'm willing to make less coming out of school than I did before, but want to ultimately land as in-house counsel with a decent wlb and make $200k+. I'm looking for advice on the best path to get there and how long I can expect it to take.

Are there any in house entertainment roles that are particularly good? Netflix is obviously FAANG but I’ve heard the culture is cutthroat. On the other end of the spectrum, heard the traditional TV networks pay terribly. Any other options? What about in house music roles? Is that a thing?

UK salaries seem low compared to the US. I'm interviewing with companies for UK based roles and it seems like most offer around a £100k base salary for circa 5y PQE. There may be something wrong with my resume ? Any UK experience appreciated, TIA !

I answer to two people, the General Counsel and CEO, however, they do not get along. I am often caught in the middle, one will want me on one project, the other on a different one. It’s becoming a bit of a hostile work environment at times…
