Just checked in to Sheraton Boston and was told hotel is on strike! No food, no lounge, no cleaning services. Nada! WTH?! Why didn’t they warn us?! I would’ve booked another property. How many points?
I've gotten to a point with my client where they are super comfortable with me. We don't shake hands anymore, but dap each other up. Same with my senior client account lead. Guess this is a good thing
As a male - what are good intro lines on dating apps? Sometimes the profiles don’t give me too many talking points
Currently on a project that has nothing to do with me. I understand developing a new skill set but I have no past experience that aligns with the scope and deliverables of the project. I've spoken with the PM and they say I'm still the best fit. I think it's just due to the firm being understaffed. Time to talk to my direct to get off that project? Thoughts?
Ditching the back pack. What are some cool work bags (male) that you use to carry stuff to work and that are client presentable?
How do people feel about points on a mortgage? NPV checks out on my end but must be good for the bank also. 1.4% points for 2.875% rate.
Do folks use “key points” and “key takeaways” interchangeably? Or do they imply 2 different things? 🤔
I am new to consulting and I have never felt more insecure. I am the subject matter expert for my team and a liaison with the client but most of the technical stuff is going over my head. I think part of the issue is that I feel like I am going to have to defend every choice I make. I am not used to that and I just don't get some concepts. Also, there are not many women and I have worked in mainly female work environments until now.
4mo pregnant and having one of those hell project days where all I want to do is slam my computer shut and pour myself a Hendricks and Tonic and slowly melt into a puddle in the sunshine. ... Anyone got any good nonalcoholic coping mechanisms for these days?
Fam celebrating holidays in Jan and I procrastinated a bit on what to do for Xmas. Spent today planning a few days in LA followed by Puerto Vallarta. Thanks Marriott Points! #SeeYouIn2016Work
Poll: IPad Pro 11” vs IPad Pro12.9” Why: Because I have Best Buy points I need to use in 2 days. How many: $500 equivalent. Use: Just traveling, reading, etc. have a MacBook Pro, so definitely nota supplement to a laptop. Commenters: “you can buy something other than iPad”. Yes, I can but I have most electronic gadgets I need and I rent, so no big appliances. But open to suggestions if there’s something very out of the ordinary from Best Buy. Thank you in advance :)
Does the PWC Advisory Scholars program still exist? The recruiter said they had not heard of it. Any data points on acceptance rates or links to more info is appreciated.
Hi. Has anyone ever done any Digital Procurement project? I am looking for answers for questions like “Where/How should I start?” “What are the top suppliers besides Coupa and Ariba?”. Any help is very welcome! Thanks !!!
I got rolled onto a project right out of onboarding, but I don’t have the skills for this role. Should I embrace a grueling 6 months or consider speaking to my manager about rolling off?
When you don't realize your boss's boss is CC'd on the email you reply to poking obvious holes in your boss's "brilliant solution for the client." Whoops.
Questions for fish who are currently in Deloitte GPS .. How extensive or much of a pain is the background investigation. I have nothing nefarious in my background, but am currently filling out forms for federal background for current job.. Is a pretty convoluted process, and the ADHD side of myself is getting pretty overwhelmed. Does it depend on project. Or does everyone in Deloitte GPS goes through full background check as well?
Am currently working in strategy consulting, wondering what it’s like to interview for Strat positions in industry/tech firms? Are there cases? Am beginning to prep for exiting.
Where do you search for jobs other than LinkedIn? Once found how do you go about it? Clearly for me … applying online isn’t working.
Someone is conducting a job interview during breakfast in the Marriott lounge. Everyone can hear the questions/answers. It's for a sales job. This is weird.
Looking for career advice. Worked in Supply Chain and Strategic Sourcing for 8 years, at Northrop and currently at Amgen. MBA from USC. Exploring options of moving over to Supply Chain Consulting or M&A. I would appreciate any feedback on recommended career paths.
How is the business going for all you consultants? Are your companies getting new projects? Any layoffs ?
I am completing Noogler period this month. I joined in January with 3-4 years of experience and Google offered me L3 Level and despite having other offers in hand, Google didn’t negotiate. And since Google was my dream company, I joined Google thinking I’ll ask for promotion in one year and do the hardwork. Till now I wasn’t having any problem. But now it starts mentally for me. So, I referred one of my friend from my same batch of college and previous organisation. contd. in comments!
How do you spend you bench time? Feel like I should take adventage of the downtime but worry that I might not seem proactive enough for optics.
What's the TC range for the post MBA level? Specifically not just in year 1, but in years 2 and 3 in between post MBA and manager level? And what does the TC breakdown look like at the manager level over the years?
Today was one of those days where I was working all day, but have little to show for it in terms of work product. I know we get paid to think, so I am wondering, how do you capture your 8+ hour day in billables when there aren’t a bunch of emails/phone calls, there was no “research” and you made little progress with your written work?
I’m a creative looking to move more into the strategy side of the game. Is it important for me to have an MBA under my belt? And what’s the best path to transition/get more visibility strategy-side?
Client recently hired a POC as CMO. Is it weird to be excited? I feel like a lot of good ideas died due to bias from the previous CMO. But also don’t wanna assume the new guy is “woke" he’s def smart.
Do you think it’s better to go to immediately go a firm that’s beyond your skillset or work your way up to that firm? For example, going to a T2 firm as an experienced hire having never done consulting without or starting at a smaller consulting firm and then going to T2/MBB?
Anyone work for ServiceNow? How’s WLB? Culture? Pay? I have an interview and don’t know what to expect.
Has anyone successfully used a gmat waiver? (Either just been approved or was approved and you also got in). For context looking at Ross and some stats are below: 690 gmat for now (taking 1-2 more times) CPA 5 YOE, 3 audit 2 FDD. Manager effective 10/1 UG GPA: 3.3 big 10 school Post mba goal : BB IB Wondering if I should try to apply for the waiver on basis of having CPA? Will not use this as my explanation but trying to study in this m&a market has been rough…
I need serious advice. I’m so sick of the one matrimonial site I’m on. Any suggestions on which ones actually work? Any success stories from those of you who went this route? 30F fwiw.
How much do you take home after tax and maxing pre tax 401k while making 144k? Not sure if I'm doing something wrong with my withholding. I'm married filing jointly withholding at a single rate, 1 federal and 1 state. DC location. I'm only taking home $6k a month.
